Malala keen to work for girls’ education in Pakistan
The youngest Nobel laureate Malala Yousufzai has expressed her keen interest in improvement of girls’ education in Pakistan.
This she said at a meeting with Karamat Ali, Executive Director of Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER) and other Pakistanis at Birmingham, England early this month.
According to Karamat Ali, the Malala Fund is currently working on girls’ education all over the world and she was briefed about the status of girls’ education in Pakistan.
Malala is very keen to work for universalisation of education in all South Asian countries and in this regard, she has emphasized for restoration of peaceful conditions in South Asia. She appreciated the efforts of people who are working for restoration of peace between Pakistan and India.
Although resources are available with the South Asian countries, most of the local resources are spent on defence and purchase of arms. Instead of spending on purchasing arsenal the governments in South Asia should spend on social welfare of the people, majority of them are poor and deprived.
Malala gave her book of autobiography to the participants of the meeting.
