The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will observe the 11th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto on Dec 27 (Thursday) at Garhi Khuda Bux where workers and leaders, including PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, will participate in a rally.
According to details, Bilawal and Zardari jointly chaired a meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) at Naudero House on Wednesday to discuss the observance of Benazir’s 11th martyrdom anniversary.
Yousaf Raza Gillani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, Faryal Talpur, Nayyar Hussain Bhukhari, Farhatullah Babar, Sherry Rehman, Qaim Ali Shah, Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Murad Ali Shah and other members of the committee were also present. Special prayers were offered for the shaheed mohtarma during the meeting.
PPP Chairman Bilawal while paying rich tribute to Benazir said she was a stateswoman and an inscriber of the history. She had embraced Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan like a unifying chain in her entire life.
“Her assassination was in actual, meant to ambush the pace of progress and prosperity and on the dream of Pakistan’s enlightened moderation and democratic Pakistan,” he added.
In his message, the PPP chief also said that she continued to struggle for the rights of the people and for taking the country to the heights of the glory of peaceful, prosperous and democratic Pakistan since day one.
“On becoming country’s first woman PM, she took steps for transforming the country into a real welfare state and gave entirely people-friendly policies and programmes,” he said. “She developed the soft image of Pakistan internationally and courageously added the missile defence shield to the nuclear programme of the country and the defence of it.”
He vowed that the PPP would keep the vision of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir close to heart and would continue to struggle for making their dreams of developing Pakistan as modern welfare state come true.
The enemies of Pakistan are destined to remain defeated while Benazir Bhutto’s mission would remain invincible, he concluded.
