Punjab government's hard-handed tactics against the Ahmadiyya community
The provincial authorities sealed an Ahmadiyya mosque earlier today after it came under attack by an extremist Sunni mob armed with guns, batons and stones in the town of Dulmial in the Punjab Province of Pakistan.
Several dozen members of the besieged minority community were barricaded inside the building as the crowd swelled outside shouting anti-Ahmadiyya slogans and then started firing and throwing rocks and stones into the building.
According to sources, the local police was too slow to react and when the mob size grew out of control, cops simply opted to render the Ahmadiyya property out of commission instead of guaranteeing security and freedom of worship for Ahmadis.
The attack comes on the heel of a police-organized attack on the Ahmadiyya community headquarters in the town Rabwah on December 5th which has drawn worldwide condemnation for the Punjab government's hard-handed tactics against the Ahmadiyya community in Pakistan.
Dulmial village is located approximately 150 kilometres south of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.
