Let us remember the strength and determination that brought us our victory, and apply it to the challenges we face today
Today we celebrate the 45th year of our victory, a day marked in the calendar to commemorate the martyrs who had made the ultimate sacrifice to build an independent Bangladesh.
As we remember our history and celebrate the unimaginable courage of our freedom fighters, let us not forget the milestones Bangladesh has achieved in the last 45 years — we have excelled in an array of fields, from establishing our dynamic RMG sector, making great strides towards the Sustainable Development Goals, and increasing our per capita income.
Over the past years, Bangladesh has also moved to new heights in terms of organising and promoting festivals of literature and music, bringing people together, and showcasing our arts to the world.
While we celebrate the spirit of independence, we also need to gear up to face the challenges at hand. Climate change, migration policies, and corruption need to be tackled head-on — because even though we have made great progress in these spheres, there is still a long way to go.
With a young population, and multiple youth leadership initiatives and programs in motion, Bangladesh has a great chance to move ahead and take advantage of the demographic dividend.
The history of our nine month-long Liberation War is a true testament to our people’s strength and determination to not bend or bow down to force. Let us remember the strength and determination that brought us our victory, and apply it to the challenges we face today.
As we look back on our various accomplishments from the last 45 years, let us vow to build a greater nation of diversity, potential, and resilience.
