Imran Khan challenges Nawaz Sharif for live debate on television

Imran Khan challenges Nawaz Sharif for live debate on television Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan has challenged Nawaz Sharif and the heads of other political parties to have a live debate with him on television. For his interview to a private television channel of Pakistan, the cricketer turned politician emphasized that the people of Pakistan should get to know about the vision of the mainstream leadership and they can see the difference only through live debates. Imran has been one of the most popular political figures in the educated class of the country since last one decade but his party failed to make an impression on the political scene of Pakistan. However, the situation changed drastically last year when huge number of people turned up for the processions of PTI in Lahore and Karachi. Since then, Imran is running a public awareness campaign and has been visiting almost all parts of the country. Chairman PTI calls this movement as ‘Tsunami’ and feels that it will destruct the corrupt system in the country. A number of political heavyweights have joined PTI since last six months and there is no doubt about the fact that PTI has emerged as the third major political party of the country. It remains to be seen that the Justice Party can get same kind of popularity in the electoral process or not. Most of the political analysts of the country feel that PTI is going to give a very tough time to all the mainstream political parties of the country in the upcoming general elections, which are expected to be held in the latter half of 2012 or early 2013. Imran has come with a brilliant idea and if the leadership of other political parties and especially Pakistan Muslim League (N) is clean, it should accept the challenge and conduct live debates with each other. This way, the masses of the country will be able to formulate their opinion in a better way. However, knowing the exceptional communication skills of Imran, it is highly unlikely that any political leader will accept this challenge due to the fear of getting exposed in front of the whole country.
