Pakistan - Hayat Sherpao’s death anniversary to be observed today

Qaumi Watan Party is set to show its political strength as the 42nd death anniversary of former governor Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao would be observed today (Saturday) at the Sherpao village of Charsadda.
According to a spokesman of QWP, all preparations had been finalised in this regard. He said that party chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao would give a special message to the party workers on this occasion.
Hayat Sherpao, the elder brother of Aftab Sherpao, was a close aide of Pakistan Peoples Party founder and former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He was also the first chairperson of the party in the province.
Born to Khan Bahadur Ghulam Haider Khan in 1943, Hayat Sherpao was assassinated in a bomb blast at the University of Peshawar in February 1975. The people of different parties still remember him for the services he had rendered for the development of the province. The spokesman said that all the office-bearers and elected representatives would lead processions of local workers to participate in the anniversary. He said that it was expected to be the biggest gathering in the district during current year.
He said that the party organisations in other districts would also observe the death anniversary to recall the services their leader had rendered for uplift of the province. Provincial senior minister Sikandar Sherpao and Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli would also speak on the occasion.
