Earlier, Shah Mehmood Qureshi held a meeting with Leader of Opposition in the Senate, Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan and Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah at his Chamber. PTI leader said that we have also decided to present resolutions on Panama Papers in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Assembly, Sindh Assembly and Senate. Qureshi said that he has also conveyed the message of Imran Khan to the PPP leaders. He said that the PTI has arranged a public rally against the PML-N government on September 3, 2016 and we have invited PPP to join us in the rally. He said that PPP and PTI shared similar emotions and thoughts on Panama Papers.
While talking to media, Leader of Opposition in the Senate, Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has no plan to approach the Supreme Court at the moment, however, it principally supports the petition filed by PTI against the Prime Minister's family for allegedly owning offshore accounts named in the Panama Papers.
"The PPP will use every available forum for probe into Panama Leaks and ultimately the party wants to bring it among the public. The PPP will also present a bill on Panama Papers in the Senate within a few days. There is not any discrimination in the bill," he said.
Aitzaz said that there is mutual understanding between the PPP and PTI on the issue of Panama Papers and we shared the same stance. "We want accountability across the board however it should be started from the Prime Minister and his family. The PM has announced to present himself for accountability while addressing the nation and public gathering in Swat, Haripur and other events," he said.
He said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan, through Shah Mehmood Qureshi has conveyed his invitation to the PPP to join his public rally in Lahore on September 3. He said that we would decide about the PTI invitation after consultation with our leadership and positive result will come.
