Pakistan - Police refuses to press charges against Muslims who beat and strip naked a Christian girl

Pakistani police refuses to take action against the Muslim perpetrators who had brutally tortured a Christian minor leaving her naked in public.

According to details, 8-year-old, Pakistani Christian girl namely Palwasha, was abducted by a Muslim family while she was on her way back to her home from school, previously in December 2015. The kidnappers allegedly subjected her to physical torture after hooking her. Soon after, the abductors left her wounded but naked in a street near her house.
The attackers had in reality taken revenge from the innocent Christian minor over the fact that her maternal uncle namely Iftikhar Masih was in a relationship with a Muslim girl. The attackers are believed to be family members of the girl who was in a relationship with Iftikhar. Reports have it that in due course of time, when the family of the Muslim girl learnt about this relationship they started eyeing for a revenge from Iftikhar Masih.

However even after several days have passed, the town authorities are utterly refusing to prosecute her attackers while instead have hooked few members of victim’s family on bogus charges. Moreover, the victim’s family reveals that when they approached a local police station in order to lodge a police complaint against the perpetrators, to their astonishment they found that a police complaint was already filed against them by the family which had allegedly taken revenge from Iftikhar.

In this regard, as the police resorts to neglecting the cries of the Christian family, the American Centre for Law and Justice has mobilized its office in Pakistan to extend assistance to the victim’s family. Moreover, the American Centre for Law and Justice (ACLJ) further reports that its attorneys on the ground are actively preparing a legal petition to the Pakistani police in order to press charges against this Christian girl’s attackers.

Soon after the incident, the Senior Litigation Counsel of the American Centre for Law and Justice- Shaheryar Gill said, “Our legal team in Pakistan visited the village and gathered the facts. We are now preparing a petition, seeking an order from the court directing the police to file criminal charges against the assailants.

If our petition is accepted, the charges will be filed under section 354-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, which severely punishes assaults and the use of criminal force against a woman resulting in stripping her and exposing her to public view. We request your prayers for justice for Parwasha and her family,” he added.
