According to details, the Islamabad police have moved the murder case of Pakistan’s former minority affairs minister Shahbaz Bhatti to a military court on Thursday January 15. Shahbaz Bhatti was purportedly murdered for publicly opposing the blasphemy law. He was gunned down outside his residence in Islamabad in March 2011. Shahbaz Bhatti’s murder was followed by the high-profile murder of Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer, who had also been killed for demanding the blasphemy law be reformed. Both of these leaders were raising voices for the blasphemy convict Asia Bibi who is still behind the bars.
However, formerly the All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) had mentioned that extremist threats had been impacting Shahbaz Bhatti’s murder trial. Moreover, the key witness in this case claims to have found threatening pamphlets from the Punjabi Taliban in his office.
