Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab chapter secretary Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has urged the Nawaz-League’s government to give free hand to the PTI on November 30 like the last time and must not resort to use of force or pre-emptive detentions of the workers of the Party.
While, he also urged upon the PTI leadership not to insist on taking the procession to the Red Zone because that may provoke the protestors like the last time when they ransacked the PTV building state TV transmission were suspended temporarily.
Protestors wielding staves regretfully also beat the law enforcement agencies officials that outraged the people in the country, he said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
He said that both the government and the PTI should behave in responsible manners adding the government should refrain from using the force and the PTI should assure the government that it would protest within the ambit of law and away from the D Chowk.
Kaira also rejected the move of the government to proceed against PTI leader Mr. Jehangir Tareen that would further vitiate the political atmosphere of the country resulting in gripping the country in acute anxiety of uncertainty.
PPP Punjab Secretary further stated that the timing of such move would be described as sheer vendetta adding these were the times to show maturity and far- sightedness because negative politics would beget negative results.
He reiterated that his Party’s position was in favor of change in government through democratic means and not through the politics of sit-ins based on coercion and intimidation.
He expressed firm resolve of the PPP to defend and promote the democratic dispensation in the country because democracy was non-negotiable for the Party.
He said that the PPP had played a decisive role in defending democracy in the country this time and would do so in future as well in case it was challenged again.
