22 children have died and over 1300 affected this year in Balochistan due to measles because government of Balochistan has failed to release allocated funds to combat measles.
According to a report published in Express Tribune, Government had allocated Rs. 137 million for Anti-Measles campaign but it’s yet to be released while innocent children are dying.
Experts say that over 4 million children are at the risk of measles in Balochistan alone. Districts of Chagai, Ziarat, Kalat, Pishin, Lasbela, Qilla Abdullah and Zhob are the most vulnerable for outbreak of Measles.
Officials of Balochistan government failed to provide any convincing answers about delay in release of Funds. “Anti-Measles campaign will be started in December,” said Rehmat Saleh Baloch, Provincial Health Minister.
According to reports, international donors have also criticized the Balochistan government for failing to release funds on time to combat Measles.
