Fragile security in Peshawar

Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chief Aftab Sherpao on Friday expressed concern over the suspension of night-time flight operation at the Bacha Khan International Airport.
In a statement, he said the suspension would not only affect the Pakistanis, particularly the Pakhtuns working in the Gulf states, but also earn a bad name for the country in the comity of nations. He said the suspension of night-time flights was caused by the negligence of the KP government. “The provincial government has failed to maintain law and order. The rulers have no right to remain in power any more,” he remarked.
Aftab Sherpao said several aeroplanes were fired at before landing at the Bacha Khan International Airport in recent months, but the authorities were unable to hunt down the perpetrators of the attacks. “The inspector general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police had suggested closure of the airport in Peshawar for night-time flights that shows the inability of the provincial government,” he maintained.
He said the rising number of polio cases in KP and the firing attacks on aeroplanes would portray a very bleak picture of the country at the international level and no foreign investor would like to make investment in the country due to fragile security.
