He demanded that the government should give a “safe passage” to the PTI and the PAT to get all of them including government out the close alley as it had paralyzed the government, and the people were the victims at the end of the day.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that the PPP and the PTI were two different Parties because PPP wanted the culmination of the political objectives through the Parliament while the PTI was heavily inclined towards the street politics.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto would also give the proofs of rigging in the 2013 elections on October 18, 2014. He further said that the PPP’s high command decided to accept the results of elections for the sake of the continuity of democracy only as all other considerations were in the periphery so far as the PPP was concerned.
He observed that the support to the political system should not be treated as the support to the present government’s wrong policies and actions. He said that the PPP strongly condemned the Model Town incident and demanded that the culprit should be brought to justice at the earliest.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo observed that due to the disruption in the political system in the country in the past, the national priorities, long term and short, could not be fixed that led to the degradation in all walks of life affection the process of national integration as well.
He maintained that the continuity of the political process in Pakistan would have given the requisite political stability so important for the overall development of the country on sustainable basis.
He said that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave the nation a unanimous constitution reflective of their aspirations. But, unfortunately the successive dictatorships mutilated it to perpetuate their rule. Credit goes to the PPP previous democratic government for restoring it in its original form, he added
He warned that the nation would not be able to have another constitution if, God forbid, its sanctity is damaged.
Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo pointed out that the constitution of 1973 was catalyst of keeping the federation of Pakistan intact after the debacle of East Pakistan.
He asserted that for PPP constitution and democracy were every thing and as such were non- negotiable.
