The Syrian army Wednesday encountered an offensive launched by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) against the headquarters of division 17 in Raqqa province, according to Al-Manar reporter.
A Saudi suicide bomber started the offensive, yet the army soldiers detonated his car at a far distance from its target.
The Syrian warplanes then began targeting ISIL terrorist gatherings in the city, killing dozens of the group's terrorists.
The Syrian army also continued its operations against the militant groups in Damascus, Aleppo, Latakia, Deir Ezzor and Homs, inflicting heavy losses upon them.
