The Express Tribune NewsThe Bomb Disposal Squad defused a hand grenade near the Iranian consulate on University Road in Peshawar, Express News reported Tuesday. The grenade was found on a railway track near the consulate and the area has been cordoned off. Sniffer dogs were also brought in to search for any other explosive devices that may have been planted. Just yesterday afternoon, on February 25, three Frontier Constabulary personnel were killed and 10 others injured in a botched suicide attack on the residence of the Iranian consul general. The residence of the Iranian consul general and the adjacent consulate building remained safe in the attack. Initially, the Bomb Disposal Squad had cleared the bomber’s vehicle but hours later, they had found two more powerful bombs planted in the car that were subsequently defused. A search operation of the area had continued until late yesterday evening and was resumed this morning.
