Benazir Bhutto’s sixth death anniversary to be observed today

The sixth death anniversary of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto would be observed with great reverence on Friday (today) throughout the country. Qur’an Khwani would be held for Shaheed-e-Jamhooriat. Special congregations will be held in small and major towns to pay tributes to her for the meritorious services she rendered for the nation. The party has finalised all arrangements for the main event at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto. A public meeting will be held at the mausoleum of the martyred leader. Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Patron Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Prime Minister Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah would address it. PPP Patron Bilawal Bhutto Zardari laid floral wreath on the grave of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on Thursday evening along with Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Asifa Bhutto Zardari. Extraordinary security measures have been adopted for which around 10,000 personnel of police and other law enforcing agencies have been deployed. Several other activities have been planned on the day throughout the country. Senior leaders of PPP, members of national and provincial assemblies, office-bearers of the party and followers of Benazir Bhutto will participate in these events. Senators, MNAs, MPAs, leaders and workers of the PPP have left for Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in large numbers from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, Fata, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. All wings of the PPP, including Labour Wing, People’s Doctors Forum, Lawyers’ Forum, Women and Youth Wings have also moved to Garhi Khuda Bakhsh. A large number of People’s Students’ Federation activists across the country will also visit Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to express ideological solidarity and admiration with their supreme leader. In Rawalpindi, the local leadership of all PPP wings and a large number of workers will visit the memorial site at Liaquat Bagh to pay homage and offer Fateha for their popular leader assassinated on December 27, 2007. The PPP has organised a big public meeting on December 27 at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to pay tribute to the great leader. A caravan of the PPP Punjab workers left for Larkana on Thursday to join the anniversary event.The death anniversary will also be observed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan with due reverence and honour. A major rally of the PPP leadership, led by AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, will reach Garhi Khuda Bakhsh today.
