President Zardari: PPP’s policy of reconciliation will continue to strengthen democracy: -

President Asif Ali Zardari has said the policy of reconciliation will continue to strengthen democracy. He was talking to a delegation of members of the legislative assembly of Gilgit-Baltistan, led by Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah, in Islamabad on Monday. The president said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will continue to play a positive and robust role within and outside parliament to strengthen democratic institutions. Meanwhile, a delegation of leadership of Azad and Jammu Kashmir, led by AJK President Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan and Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, also called on the president. Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said the delegation appreciated the keen interest of the president in development of AJK and lauded the various measures taken for the uplift and betterment of the people of the country, particularly AJK. Zardari said the PPP government accorded top priority to the development of AJK and undertook every possible step for the well being of the people of Azad Kashmir. The delegation thanked the president for the meeting and invited him for a farewell reception to be held in his honour at the Kashmir House Islamabad. Separately, European Union Ambassador to Pakistan Lars-Gunnar Wigemark also called on President Zardari. They discussed matters pertaining to Pakistan-European Union relations. Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Muhammad Tahir Rafique Butt also called on the president and discussed matters pertaining to Pakistan Air Force.
