Mehsuds continue to flee S Waziristan

Mehsud tribe continues to vacate Shakai and Wana, two major towns of South Waziristan following a threat from Wazir tribe after a suicide attack on Maulvi Nazir on Nov 29 that he survived, Geo News reported Thursday. According to reports, at least 1,000 Mehsud tribesmen in Wana have left the area within two days following the warning while at least 700 families were still living in the area. Mehsud tribe is facing difficulties in migration due to travel fares and hurdles in different places. A tribal Jirga also attended by Nazir announced to evacuate the IDPs, who left their areas in the wake of military operation, and warned action against them if they didn’t leave by December 5. The Jirga members said that Tehreek-e-Taliban militants took shelter in their area in the disguise of Mehsud IDPs and targeted people and peace Laskhar. According to the reports, the IDPs have moved to Dera Ismail Khan and Tank while 700 families are still stranded in South Waziristan.
