Curfew in N Waziristan

According to an official notification, the authorities here Saturday announced curfew in most parts of North Waziristan for today (Sunday).

It said the curfew would be imposed on the main Bannu-Miramshah, Miramshah-Razmak and Dossali-Mir Ali roads on Sunday from 6am and would continue indefinitely.

The roads will remain closed for all kinds of traffic and people have been asked to stay indoors during the curfew.

The curfew was being imposed two days after the US drone strikes hitting a tribal jirga and killing 48 innocent tribesmen including elders, government officials and Khassadars. The drone attack caused outrage and prompted the grand tribal jirga in North Waziristan to declare jihad against the US for avenging the deaths.

The sources said that Noor Said, son of Lal Said, was on way home from the mosque after Fajr prayer when gunmen kidnapped him.
