China handles Urumqi violence "decisively and properly"


The Chinese government and the Communist Party handled the July 5 riot in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region "decisively and properly," said a senior official from the Communist Party of China on Friday."The CPC and government have always advocated social stability, the socialist legal system, national unity, as well as the interests of the people," said He Guoqiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau.He told Nguyen Van Chi, chairman of the control committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the situation in Urumqi was stable.He said the riot was a violent crime instigated and organized by the three forces of terrorism, separatism and extremism at home and abroad.Nguyen Van Chi said the Vietnamese government and Party supported the Chinese government's response.He, also secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI), said the Chinese government and Party would strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese counterparts.He also said China would uproot corruption and take measures to prevent its occurrence to maintain the healthy development of the society.He said China's economy was showing positive signs since the government implemented the stimulus package to deal with the global economic downturn, but it still needed more effort to ensure a sound recovery.Nguyen Van Chi pledged to further cooperation with the CCDI to promote relations between the two countries and parties.
