#Pakistan - Maryam slams PM over state brutality against #PPP workers
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday took a jibe at Prime Minister Imran Khan and said the “man who paralysed the federal capital for four months cannot tolerate a small protest”.
“Torture inflicted on political workers of the PPP by those who stole votes is condemnable,” she said. Slamming Prime Minister Imran Khan, Maryam tweeted: “The person who attacked Parliament, PM House, PTV and paralysed Islamabad for four months could not tolerate a small protest because he is scared.”
Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) barred political workers from entering the federal capital and directed the provincial home secretaries of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab to instruct their police personnel to stop PPP workers. The Islamabad IG ordered the police to enforce Section 144 of the PPC as over 2,000 security personnel were deployed on the Islamabad-Kashmir Highway with all routes leading to the office sealed. Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) workers, to show solidarity, attempted accompanying Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to the NAB office. The Islamabad police used water cannons to disperse party workers at bay. Reportedly, several workers have been arrested after they clashed with the police.

According to latest updates, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari arrived at NAB headquarters, where workers chanted slogans in his favour.
Police used water cannon to stop PPP workers from moving forward. At D-chowk, PPP workers and police broke into a scuffle as well.
Earlier, former president Zardari excused himself from appearing before the NAB in relation to the fake accounts case, sources informed.
This will be the second time, the former president excused himself from presenting before the probe authority. The NAB will decide about the non-appearance of former president Zardari in the case later in the day, sources said.
Due to the likely arrival of the PPP leaders in the capital, the Islamabad administration had banned the entry of ‘jiyalas’ in the federal capital.
The city administration ordered to restrict arrival of PPP workers from other cities, saying that the presence of party workers can lead to chaos.
The administration sealed the entry routes to the federal capital, in order to stop PPP workers from arriving. Moreover, PPP leaders and workers were stopped from reaching Zardari House.
“Govt has no tolerance for constructive criticism”
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, before leaving, expressed gratitude to his supporters for the messages of support and said, “Despite CJ Nisar announcing that I am innocent, govt has no tolerance for constructive criticism and opposition voices, continue to persecute political opponents. Luckily I’ve had a lot of practice.”
