Mashal Khan was murdered according to plan, reveals investigation





Joint Investigation Team (JIT) - probing the lynching of Abdul Wali Khan University student Mashal Khan - has stated that the victim was murdered according to a plan, Samaa reported.

JIT in its report has stated that a political group was under threat from the activities of the victim.

"The student used to speak against the irregularities in the university openly," the report mentioned.

It also mentioned that every suspect in the case were ineligible and were employed on recommendation.

"No evidences regarding blasphemy were found in the investigation," the report stated.

"A group incited the mob against the student on the pretext of blasphemy," it further stated.

The report further stated that the victim had spoken with the hostel warden before he was tortured.

"Mashal assured the mob that he was a Muslim, recited Kalma and pleaded them to take him to a hospital," the report mentioned.

The JIT's report further states that use of drugs, weapons and exploitation of students is normal in the varsity.

The report has also questioned the role of law enforcement agencies in the incident.

The investigation team has suggested the concerned authorities to take action against the officials that were negligent in their duty
