MNA Mohsin Dawar says stopped at Quetta airport, barred from entering city

Lawmaker Mohsin Dawar said he was barred from leaving Quetta airport on Friday by authorities upon arrival in Balochistan's capital.

"I have just landed in Quetta and I have been stopped from leaving the airport by security agencies," said Dawar via a tweet. "I have been told that my entry to Balochistan has been barred again for 90 days. The state thinks it can break our resolve with such petty tactics. They can’t."

He also posted a notice on his Twitter account, which said that the entry of Dawar and fellow lawmaker Ali Wazir in Balochistan was banned for 90 days under the Balochistan Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960.

The notice, dated July 29, said that the ban on Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leaders had been imposed "in the best interest of public peace and safety".

Speaking to DawnNewsTV, Dawar said he was speaking to government officials and added that he was being accompanied by workers and supporters of the group.

“The officials informed Mohsin that the deputy commissioner was in Islamabad. The additional deputy commissioner has reached the airport to talk with Mohsin,” Khalil Ahmed, a PTM worker present at the airport said. Khalil further said that the MNA had come to Balochistan to offer condolences to families whose members had been killed in a firing incident at Chaman border.

Dawar and his supporters had flown in from Islamabad. According to an official at the airport, the last flight from Quetta to Islamabad took off earlier in the day and no other flights are scheduled to other cities today.

Members of the group's Quetta chapter gathered outside the airport as news of the development reached them and threatened to stage a protest against the government over the move.

In November 2018, Dawar and Wazir were offloaded from a flight bound from Peshawar to Dubai by officials of security agencies and were told that they could not travel abroad because their names were on the Exit Control List.

In December of the same year, the federal cabinet directed the interior ministry to scrap the PTM leaders' names off the list.

Earlier this year in March, Dawar and Wazir were stopped from boarding a Kabul-bound flight, as officials said that their names were on no fly list. They were going to Afghanistan to attend President Ashraf Ghani's oath-taking ceremony.

At the time, Firdous Ashiq Awan, the then special assistant to the prime minister on information and broadcasting, had said that the names of both MNAs were on the ECL and they "did not ask for permission to go to Afghanistan".

Polio-free Pakistan dream of Benazir Bhutto: Bilawal

Pakistan People’s Party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari yesterday said that polio-free Pakistan was the dream of his mother Benazir Bhutto and the nation had to work dedicatedly to transform this dream into reality.

In his message on the eve of World Polio Day, the PPP Chairman said that the crippling disease of polio had no cure and it can only be prevented by the vaccination exercise being conducted worldwide.

“African region has now been declared polio-free while the cases but few cases are still being reported from Pakistan and Afghanistan,” he added.

Bilawal said that former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto launched polio vaccination in Pakistan with the support of international organizations and nation’s reached very close to being declared completely polio-free.

He appreciated the health officials and polio teams, especially the Lady Health Workers, who have been fighting the virus very dedicatedly for three decades and hoped that with the collective efforts the poliovirus will be eradicated from the country very soon.

“I salute the polio front line workers and the lady health workers who have tirelessly worked towards saving the future generations of Pakistan,” she said. She added: “Despite the progress made from 306 cases of polio in 2014 to just 12 in 2018, we have once again seen an increase in cases over the last two years. To our great dismay, a previously eradicated strain of wild polio made a resurgence and once again threatened our children.”
Aseefa said: “We are now one of only two countries in the world where children are victims of polio. Our children deserve better than to be paralyzed from a disease that is easily preventable through vaccination. On world polio day I reiterate my belief that if we all work together we can turn this around.”

She said the polio vaccine was the only way to protect your children from this crippling disease. “Give your children polio drops every time they are offered, to save them from disability, to save them from polio and to make Pakistan and the world polio free,” she added.

The PPP leader said: “This was the dream of my mother Benazir Bhutto and I was the first child to publicly receive the polio vaccine to mark campaign back in 1994, l want to see her dream become a reality. گلگت بلتستان کو آئینی صوبہ بناکر رہیں گے، بلاول بھٹو

پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کے چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے کہا ہے کہ گلگت بلتستان کو آئينی صوبہ بناکر رہیں گے، یہ میرا 2018ء کے منشور کا وعدہ ہے۔

اسکردو میں انتخابی جلسے سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے کہا کہ گلگت بلتستان کے عوام شہید ذوالفقار علی بھٹو کی سبسڈی کی وجہ سے آج تک گندم پر فائدہ اٹھارہے ہیں۔

بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے کہا کہ سب سے زیادہ تعلیمی ادارے اور اسپتال پیپلز پارٹی نے بنائے، عمران خان کو خیبر پختونخوا میں حکومت کرتے ہوئے 7 سال ہوگئے ایک نیا اسپتال نہیں بنا۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ ظالمو دیکھو، آپ نے بے نظیر بھٹو کو شہید کردیا لیکن گلگت بلتستان کی عورتیں آج بھی میری والدہ کا کردار ادا کررہی ہيں۔

پی پی چیئرمین نے کہا کہ جنوبی پنجاب سے پوچھیں 2018ء میں صوبہ بنانے کا وعدہ کیا تھا، اب تک پورا نہیں ہوا۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ ہمیں عمران خان سے آپ کو بچانا ہے، ہمیں آپ کے بچوں کا مستقبل بچانا ہے۔

بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے کہا کہ موجودہ حالات میں مزدور، کسان سب سراپا احتجاج ہیں۔
