#ElectionPakistan - #Pakistan's #Ahmadiyya Muslim Community announces disassociation from General Elections 2018

Currently there is one voter list that includes all religious groups including Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Zoroastrians, and Sikhs, whereas in the case of the Ahmadis, a separate voter list is being prepared bearing the titles "Qadiani Men/Women."

A separate voter list prepared for the Ahmadies based on religious differences is a worst example of biased discrimination

Chenab Nagar -The spokesperson of the Ahmadiyya Community in Pakistan, Saleem Ud Din, has dissociated the community from the upcoming general elections that are set to take place in Pakistan on 25 July.

Saleem Ud Din said that though the elections are ostensibly being held under a joint electoral system, there is, however, a separate voter list just for Ahmadis. The process for the registration of votes and the preparation of the voter lists is now completed. The forms issued for the registration of the votes include the religion box and the Oath-Declaration.

The spokesperson expressed the view that under the current circumstances for Ahmadis to cast a vote they first have to distance themselves from the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) and this is something that no Ahmadi can countenance.

Currently there is one voter list that includes all religious groups including Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Zoroastrians, and Sikhs, whereas in the case of the Ahmadis, a separate voter list is being prepared bearing the titles "Qadiani Men/Women."

The spokesperson asserted that the discriminatory treatment on the basis of religion is a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise the Ahmadis of Pakistan from the electoral process and, for all intents and purposes, denying them their right of vote. "Such prejudicial behavior is an open violation of Pakistani Ahmadis as citizens of the state and goes against the vision of the founding father of the country Muhammad Ali Jinnah and contravenes both the constitution and the very of the joint electoral system."

The spokesperson said that under these circumstances, the Ahmadis consider taking part in the elections to go against their faith. And, if there is anyone who may be contesting these elections as an Ahmadi, then they cannot and should not be seen as a representative of the Ahmadiyya community as a whole and nor will any Ahmadi accept them as such.

"Therefore, in view of the prevailing circumstance, the Ahmadis of Pakistan will once again not be participating in the Pakistani general elections,' Saleem Ud Din declared.

#ElectionPakistan - SENATOR RASHEED SLAMS STATE AUTHORITIES FOR INACTION AGAINST BANNED OUTFITS

Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, who served as Federal Information Minister lashed out at state authorities over allowing people from the Fourth Schedule (of counterterrorism law) to contest the Elections.
The Senator lamented that those responsible for the Peshawar and Mastung attacks are roaming freely but 10,000 policemen were deployed for the arrest of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif who had come to surrender with his daughter voluntarily. He said 16,000 political workers were arrested during the crackdown ahead of Sharif’s arrival, 99 per cent of whom belong to the PML-N.
“What are the state's priorities?" he asked, adding that the state has decided whom to suppress and whom to support. “There is a need to change these priorities," he warned.
"Where do our enemies find the person willing to wear a suicide jacket?" Rasheed asked. "Who has fostered this narrative? Was it Nawaz Sharif or Benazir Bhutto who made policies to bring such people into parliament?" He was referring to notorious hatemongering Deobandi takfiri ringleaders of banned militant outfits.
Addressing the state, he said enough blood has been spilt in the country and there was a need to "change your philosophy".
"No citizen can claim to be safe even in their home. Perhaps the state's priorities are somewhere and the people's interests lie elsewhere."

Speaking in the upper house of Pakistan’s bicameral parliament, he warned that no candidates from mainstream and peaceful democratic parties could be expected to run peaceful election campaigns in the presence of fourth schedulers of banned terrorist outfits.
“Be afraid of the day when those people will be present in this house" he warned.

#ElectionPakistan - Major blow to #PTI as HEC rejects its claim of building 9 universities in KP

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) often brags about its achievements in the education sector with a claim of building nine universities during its five-year rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
However, the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) data opposes the claim, which the Imran Khan-led party is highlighting in ongoing electioneering. The record shows that only four varsities were registered in the province during the tenure of the PTI.
The party has boasted about undertaking record works in the education sector at the elementary and secondary education, claiming that around 150,000 students who studied in private institutes migrated to government schools due to the modern school system.
It also claimed to establish nine universities in different parts of the province including the Women University in Mardan, a women’s university in Swabi, Shuhada-e-Army Public School University of Technology in Nowshera, the Abbottabad University of Science and Technology (AUST), the University of Buner, the University of Chitral, University of Agricultural Dera Ismail Khan, a University of Engineering and Technology in Mardan, and the University of Science and Technology in Lakki Marwat during the five years.
However, the HEC says it recognises only four of these universities including the Women University in Mardan, the Women University in Swabi, the Shuhada-e-Army Public School University of Technology in Nowshera and the AbbottabadUniversity of Science and Technology (AUST), Express Tribune reported.
According to the HEC, there are currently 23 public-sector universities registered in K-P, adding that there were eight varsities in 2002.
However, 11 universities were built by the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) and then the Awami National Party (ANP) in the subsequent 10 years, bringing the total number to 19.
The data shows only four universities were set up during the tenure of PTI, the leading English daily reported.
The official shared that University of Buner and University of Chitral were originally campuses of the Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan, adding that the government had given them the status of the varsities but had not been recognized by the HEC.
Similarly, UET Mardan which was originally a campus for UET Peshawar had not been registered with the commission. Other two universities – agricultural varsity in Dera Ismail Khan and UET Lakki Marwat – which PTI claimed to be built are yet to be registered by the HEC.
