پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کے چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری کی پی ٹی آئی حکومت کی ناکام ترین پالیسیوں کے نتیجے میں پاکستان میں پیدا ہونے والی کمر توڑ مہنگائی کے خلاف ملک بھر بھرپور عوامی احتجاج پر پارٹی کے عہدیداران و جیالوں کو شاباش

 کراچی / اسلام آباد/ لاہور/ پشاور/ کوئٹہ (29 اکتوبر 2021) پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کے چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے پی ٹی آئی حکومت کی ناکام ترین پالیسیوں کے نتیجے میں پاکستان میں پیدا ہونے والی کمر توڑ مہنگائی کے خلاف ملک بھر بھرپور عوامی احتجاج پر پارٹی کے عہدیداران و جیالوں کو شاباش دی ہے۔ چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے کہا ہے کہ آج ملک کی ہر گلی اور ہر محلے میں عمران خان سے نجات کے نعرے لگ رہے ہیں۔

پی پی پی میڈیا سیل کی جانب سے جاری کردہ بیان کے مطابق پی پی پی چیئرمین نے چاروں صوبوں، آزاد کشمیر اور گلگت بلتستان کی صوبائی و ضلعی تنظیموں کے ساتھ ساتھ طلبہ، نوجوانوں، خواتین، مزدور، کسان سمیت تمام ذیلی تنظیموں کے نام علحیدہ علحیدہ پیغامات میں بھرپور احتجاجی مظاہروں کے انعقاد پر انہیں شاباش دی ہے۔

چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے پنجاب اور اسلام آباد میں مہنگائی کے خلاف احتجاجی مظاہرے کرنے پر صوبائی و ضلعی تنظیموں کو شاباش دی دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ مہنگائی کے خلاف عوام کے تاریخی احتجاج نے ثابت کردیا کہ عوام کے معاشی قتل عام کا سلسلہ اب نہیں چلے گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ عوام نے آج ملک کے ہر ضلع میں مہنگائی کے خلاف احتجاج کرکے عمران خان کی نااہلی پر مبنی پالیسیوں کو مسترد کردیا۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ پاکستان پیپلزپارٹی کی تنظیم نے مہنگائی کے خلاف ملک بھر میں احتجاجی مظاہروں کا انعقاد کرکے عوام کے احساسات کی ترجمانی کی ہے۔

پی پی پی چیئرمین پی پی پی نے جنوبی پنجاب میں بھی بھرپور عوامی احتجاج کے انعقاد پر صوبائی و ضلعی تنظیموں کو شاباش دی اور کہا کہ وسیب کے عوام نے شہر شہر مہنگائی کے خلاف احتجاج کرکے اپنا مزاحمتی کردار نبھایا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ مہنگائی کی دہائیاں دیتے وسیب کے عوام جانتے ہیں کہ ان کی مجرم پی ٹی آئی حکومت اور عمران خان ہے۔ عوام کے احتجاج نے سلیکٹڈ وزیراعظم کی جھوٹی مقبولیت کی قلعی کھول کر رکھ دی ہے۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ عمران خان کو تاریخ میں ملک کی معاشی تباہی کے ایک بدترین کردار کے طور پر یاد رکھا جائے گا۔

چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے ملک بھر کی طرح پورے سندھ میں بھی مہنگائی کے خلاف احتجاجی مظاہرے کرنے پر صوبائی و ضلعی تنظیموں کو شاباش دی اور کہا کہ آمرانہ حکومتوں اور کٹھ پتلیوں کے لئے سندھ کا مزاحمتی کردار ہمیشہ سے ایک روشن مثال رہا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ آج کراچی سے کشمور تک سندھ کے عوام نے مہنگائی کے خلاف باہر نکل کر پی ٹی آئی حکومت کے خلاف اپنا فیصلہ سنا دیا ہے۔ روشنیوں کے شہر کراچی پر عمران خان کی جانب سے اندھیرے مسلط کرنے کی کوششوں کو آج عوام نے مسترد کردیا۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ عوام کا سڑکوں پر یوں احتجاج عمران خان کے لئے ایک پیغام ہے کہ قوم انہیں اپنا حکمران نہیں چاہتی۔

پی پی پی چیئرمین نے خیبرپختونخوا بھر میں بھی مہنگائی کے خلاف بھرپور احتجاج کرنے پر صوبائی و ضلعی تنظیموں کو شاباش دی اور کہا کہ خیبرپختونخوا کے عوام نے مہنگائی کے خلاف احتجاجی مظاہروں میں نام نہاد تبدیلی کو مسترد کردیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ خیبرپختونخوا کے ہر ضلع میں عوام مہنگائی کے خلاف احتجاج کے لئے نکلے، یہ ایک عوامی ریفرنڈم تھا۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ عمران خان عوام سے روٹی، کپڑا اور مکان چھین رہا ہے۔ پی ٹی آئی حکومت کے خلاف ملک بھر میں عوامی تحریک جنم لے چکی ہے۔

پی پی پی چیئرمین بلوچستان میں بھی مہنگائی کے خلاف بھرپور احتجاج پر صوبائی و ضلعی تنظیموں کو بھی شاباش دی اوسر کہا کہ بلوچستان کے عوام کا مہنگائی کے خلاف سڑکوں پر نکلنا سلیکٹڈ حکومت کے خلاف ایک چارج شیٹ ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پورا ملک عمران خان کی ناکام معاشی پالیسیوں کی سزا بھگت رہا ہے۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ شہر شہر آج عمران خان کے خلاف نکلتے جلوس عوامی غیض و غضب کا ایک اظہار ہیں۔ عوام کے صبر کا پیمانہ لبریز ہوچکا ہے، پی ٹی آئی حکومت ہوش کے ناخن لے۔

چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے ملک بھر کی طرح پورے آزاد جموں و کشمیر میں مہنگائی کے خلاف احتجاجی مظاہروں کے انعقاد پر وہاں کی تنظیم کو شاباش دی اور کہا کہ آزاد جموں و کشمیر کے ہر ضلع میں مہنگائی کے خلاف ہونے والا تاریخی احتجاج ایک اہم پیش رفت ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پہاڑوں سے سمندروں تک عوام عمران خان کے خلاف سڑکوں پر نکل کر غم و غصے کا اظہار کررہے ہیں۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ آج ثابت ہوگیا کہ آزاد جموں و کشمیر کے عوام پی ٹی آئی کی ناجائز حکومت کو قبول نہیں کرتے۔ عمران خان کہتے تھے کہ ان کے خلاف ایک نعرہ لگا تو وہ مستعفی ہوجائیں گے اور آج پوری قوم سلیکٹڈ وزیراعظم کے خلاف یک زبان ہے۔

پی پی پی چیئرمین نے گلگت بلتستان میں بھی مہنگائی کے خلاف احتجاجی مظاہروں کے انعقاد پر صوبائی و ضلعی تنظیموں کو شاباش دی اور کہا کہ سلیکٹڈ حکومت کے خلاف ہمالیہ کے پہاڑوں اور قراقرم کی اونچائیوں پر گونجتی صدائیں نوشتہ دیوار ہیں۔ گلگت بلتستان کے ہر ضلع میں مہنگائی سرکار کے خلاف احتجاج ایک سلسلہ ہے جو سلیکٹڈ حکومت کے خاتمے پر رکے گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ نئے پاکستان کے نام پر عمران خان نے ملک کو تباہی کے حوالے کردیا۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ مہنگائی کے ہاتھوں پریشان گلگت بلتستان کے عوام عمران خان کو معاشی جرائم کو کبھی معاف نہیں کریں گے۔

کوئٹہ: پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی بلوچستان کے جنرل سیکرٹری و سابق سینیٹرروزی خان کاکڑ،سیکرٹری اطلاعات سردارسربلند جوگیزئی نے کہا ہے کہ پارٹی چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زردار ی کی ہدایت پر 29اکتوبر بروز جمعہ کو کوئٹہ سمیت بلوچستان کے تمام ضلعی ہیڈاکوارٹرز میں مہنگائی کے خلاف احتجاجی مظاہرے کئے جائیں گے کارکن احتجاجی مظاہروں میں بھر پور شرکت کریں ۔

یہ بات انہوں نے بدھ کو پیپلزپارٹی کے سینئر رہنماوں کے اجلاس سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہی۔اجلاس میں حاجی اشرف کاکڑ،ملک زیشان حسین،ملک عبدالحمید کاکڑ،در محمد ہزارہ، شاہجہاں گجر،جبار خلجی، سمیع بڑیچ، ربانی خلجی اوردیگر نے شرکت کی ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ تین سالوں کی مہنگائی نے 70سال کا مہنگائی کا ریکارڈ توڑا ڈالاریاست مدینہ کے دعویدار عوام کو ریلیف فراہم کرنے کی بجائے جھوٹ بولنے میں مصروف ہیں ۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ سلیکٹڈ وزیراعظم نے ایک کروڑ نوکریوں کا وعدہ کیا تھا آج لاکھوں لوگوں کو بے روزگار کر چکے ہیں ۔انہوں نے کہا کہ تحریک انصاف کی حکومت نے تبدیلی کے نام پر عوام سے سب سے بڑا فراڈ کیا مہنگائی اور بے روزگاری کی وجہ سے غریب اور مڈل کلاس طبقہ کی چیخیں نکل گئی ہیں حکومتی وزرا مسلسل غیر سنجیدگی کا مظاہرہ کر رہے ہیں پی ٹی آئی کے پاس ملک میں بہتری لانے کا کوئی منصوبہ نہیںقرض پہ قرض لیا جا رہا ہے اور ملک کو مکمل طور پر آئی ایم ایف کی غلامی میں دھکیل دیا گیا ہے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کے چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری کی ہدایت پر ملک میں بڑھتی ہوئی مہنگائی کے خلاف 29اکتوبربروز جمعہ کو کوئٹہ سمیت بلوچستان کے تما م ضلعی ہیڈکواٹرز کے پریسکلبز کے سامنے احتجاجی مظاہرے کئے جائیں گے پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کے جیالے احتجاجی مظاہروں میں بھر پور شرکت کریں۔

#Pakistan - Mira Sethi wants to know why our definition of masculinity starts and ends with a woman's clothing

Your 'mardangi' should be strong enough not to feel threatened by what a woman wears, the actor said in a recent interview.

 

Mira Sethi is known for not mincing her words when it comes to talking about women's rights. She's been vocal about intolerance towards women in society as well as a woman's right to dress however she pleases. In a recent interview, Sethi talked about how society's definition of masculinity has become so fragile that a man's pride feels threatened by a woman's choice of clothes. In an interview with Independent Urdu, the Chupke Chupke actor shared her thoughts on the objections raised against what women wear on social media. "I saw a comment underneath a post made by my colleague and friend Ushna Shah on Instagram," Sethi said. She was wearing jeans and a top in the post and the comment underneath it read 'if my mardaangi (masculinity) compels me to act in a certain way now then don't blame me'."

"What is this masculinity exactly?" she asked. "Why is your definition of masculinity and pride so narrow that it starts and ends at a woman's clothing? An independent woman and a broad-minded man can both co-exist in this society together."

Sethi mentioned the prevalent perception of masculinity can't handle the thought of women wearing, what is perceived as, flashy or bold clothes. "I really don't understand this," she said. The actor asked people to broaden their minds and definitions of masculinity. "If a man is sitting in front of me wearing tight jeans, I won't just go on and say 'your tight jeans are pulling me towards sin'. Women don't speak like this," she assert.Our thoughts don't go in this direction and this society hasn't even given us the right to speak like this to a man, she said. "But men think they can say stuff like this to women anytime."

Why do men police us so much? the actor asked. "If we talk about your masculinity then it should be confident enough and allow you to live without it feeling threatened. Of course, we have to be mindful of not crossing certain boundaries. As women we are aware of what those boundaries are because we live in this society."

Sethi was met with criticism for her choice of clothing at the Lux Style Awards. In response, she posted a lengthy message on Instagram telling her haters to back off. "Go home. I don’t dress for you," the actor had said. "I don’t dress for anyone or anything other than my own sense of joy and play and expansion. The men of this country are obsessed with policing women, constantly defining their ‘honour’ in relation to women’s bodies and clothing and appearance. It is a small minded, decayed, hateful thing to do. You want to disempower us because a deep part of you is hurting and angry. I get it. It’s societal and it is ugly."

In her recent interview, Sethi urged men to think deeply about the issue at hand. "People often say to men you have mothers and sisters. Yes those women are mothers and sisters but they are individuals as well. People often ask 'why did you rape her? She's someone's mother or sister'. Why can't people just ask 'why did you rape her?'. Full stop."

The actor also shared her thoughts on the efforts being made for women's rights in Pakistan. "I believe that the oppression women are facing in Pakistan these days has increased a lot," she said. "A bill against domestic violence was not passed in parliament recently. It wasn't passed because of 'politics', even though it should have been passed. I think the government should take these things seriously. They aren't taking it seriously though, and so people have to raise their voice against these issues. Women have to raise their voices. I believe we have a very long way to go.

"Our Constitution should be so strong in upholding women's rights and protecting women against violence that we would not have to worry. Unfortunately we haven't reached that point yet," she emphasised.

 وفاقی اور صوبائی حکومت کی ناکام معاشی پالیسیوں کے سبب کمر توڑ مہنگائی کی بدترین لہر نے غریب اور متوسط طبقے کی قوتِ خرید ختم کر دی ہے۔ تاریخ کی بلند ترین مہنگائی سے عوام خودکشیوں پر مجبور ہو گئے ہیں۔ غربت ختم کرنے کے دعوے داروں نے غریبوں کو ختم کرنے کا تہیہ کر لیا ہے۔ تباہی سرکار ملک پر عذاب بن کر مسلط ہو گئی ہے۔ وفاق کی طرح گلگت بلتستان کے عوام بھی بدترین مہنگائی کی چکی میں پس رہے ہیں۔ 

اگر مہنگائی اسی رفتار سے بڑھتی رہی تو خدانخواستہ خودکشیوں اور لاقانونیت کی شکل میں کوئی انسانی المیہ رونما ہو سکتا ہے۔ اس سلسلے میں عوامی احتجاج کےلئے چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری کی طرف سے جاری ہدایات کے مطابق گلگت بلتستان میں بھی احتجاجی لائحہ عمل بھی طے کیا گیا۔

 اس حوالے سے مرکزی قیادت کی ہدایت پر 29 اکتوبر بعد از نماز جمعہ پورے ملک کی طرح گلگت بلتستان کے ضلعی ہیڈکوارٹرز میں بھی مہنگائی کے خلاف بھرپور احتجاج کیا جائے گا. صوبائی صدر و قائدِ حزبِ اختلاف گلگت بلتستان اسمبلی نے اس حوالے سے تمام سابقہ ضلعی عہدیداران اور تمام ذیلی تنظیموں کے سابقہ عہدیداران کو ہدایت جاری کیں کہ وہ بھرپور اور پرامن انداز میں احتجاج ریکارڈ کروائیں۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا ہے کہ تمام ضلعی عہدیداران کے امیدواروں، ذیلی تنظیموں کے امیدواروں اور ٹکٹ ہولڈرز مل کر وفاقی اور صوبائی حکومت کی غریب کش پالیسیوں اور کمر توڑ مہنگائی کے خلاف بھرپور احتجاج کریں۔ اجلاس میں کونسل انتخابات کیلئے پیپلزپارٹی گلگت بلتستان کی حکمت عملی کے حوالے سے بھی غور کیا گیا۔

 اجلاس میں سینٹرل ایگزیکٹو کمیٹی کے رکن محمد موسیٰ، سینئر نائب صدر جمیل احمد، محمد علی اختر، آفتاب حیدر اور صوبائی سکریٹری اطلاعات و رکن گلگت بلتستان اسمبلی سعدیہ دانش, ایوب شاہ اور پیر جلال کے علاؤہ کونسل کے امیدواروں نے بھی شرکت کی۔

Storm Clouds Hang Over ‘All-Weather’ Sino-Pakistani Friendship

Attacks on Chinese nationals working in CPEC projects in Pakistan have drawn China’s ire. Pakistan’s deteriorating security situation has put Islamabad’s relationship with China under strain, indicating that the state of the bilateral relationship remains far from ideal.

On July 14, 13 people, including nine Chinese engineers, died when a bus carrying the team working on the Dasu Hydropower Project was attacked by militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. On August 21, a convoy carrying Chin­ese personnel working on the East-Bay Expressway project was attacked by a suicide bomber in Gwadar. Follow the attack on the Dasu project, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said that the incident took place due to a “mechanical failure” in the bus. The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson called it an “attack” and asked for an investigation. Later, Pakistan’s government admitted that the incident was the result of a suicide bombing. Separately, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi that “lessons should be learned from the incident.”

The attacks have complicated China’s interactions with Pakistan.

Calls from Beijing for Pakistan to ensure the security of Chinese nationals and workers in the country have grown over the last few months. Recently, the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan said that “the security situation in Pakistan has been severe” and urged Islamabad to take practical and effective measures to accelerate implementation of stronger security measures.

Added to the issue of security are disagreements over payment conditions on projects related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). China, Pakistan’s “all-weather” friend, has demanded $38 million in compensation from Islamabad as a precondition to resume the work on the stalled Dasu Hydropower Project. Reportedly, the issue of payment to the Chinese nationals is being discussed at a high level with the Pakistani government. The Chinese firm, China Gezhouba Group Corp (CGGC), had suspended work on the Dasu project after the bus attack.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has threatened to impose liquidated damages on CGGC for causing delays on the project. It is important to note here that in the wake of the Dasu attack, WAPDA and CGGC decided after mutual consultation to suspend construction work on the project for a few days, but the work has not resumed even after two months. In September, a meeting of CPEC’s Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) could not “finalize arrangements for over $6 billion Mainline Railway Track (ML-1) and a framework agreement on industrial cooperation pending for a long time.” The JCC, which is expected to meet twice a year, has not met since November 2019, indicating serious shortcomings on both sides when it comes to steering and resolving CPEC-related issues. Reportedly, the Chinese are frustrated over the issue of payments in the power sector, and want an increase in withholding tax rates on the signed agreements with the Pakistani government. It is also being reported that Chinese firms are “not interested in making further investment in Pakistan, citing inappropriate treatment, especially in payment to companies that invested in the power sector.” Estimates suggest that Pakistan’s energy sector circular debt has crossed 1.34 trillion Pakistani rupees and there remains no hope of its resolution soon.

The Chinese “question why Pakistan requested them to establish projects if there were no resources for payments against their investment,” said one report. For its own part, the Pakistani side has sought changes to the tariff structure from China for independent power producers in order to decrease the fiscal burden and address the issue of circular debt pressure. However, it is unlikely that it will succeed in renegotiating terms already agreed with the Chinese firms.

In September, Pakistan assured Beijing that it would not renegotiate $15 billion in energy project deals under CPEC. Pakistan also agreed to disburse $1.4 billion to Chinese companies on account of power generation costs that remain stuck in Pakistan’s circular debt cycle. But, as Pakistan’s circular debt grows and the economy comes under pressure, it is unlikely that Pakistan’s payment issues with Chinese firms are going to be resolved any time soon.

Pakistan’s security woes may worsen in the coming weeks, owing to developments in neighboring Afghanistan. Islamabad’s relationship with Beijing is about to go through another testing period.

US nearing a formal agreement to use Pakistan's airspace to carry out military operations in Afghanistan

The Biden administration has told lawmakers that the US is nearing a formalized agreement with Pakistan for use of its airspace to conduct military and intelligence operations in Afghanistan, according to three sources familiar with the details of a classified briefing with members of Congress that took place on Friday morning.

Pakistan has expressed a desire to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in exchange for assistance with its own counterterrorism efforts and help in managing the relationship with India, one of the sources said. But the negotiations are ongoing, another source said, and the terms of the agreement, which has not been finalized, could still change.

The briefing comes as the White House is still trying to ensure that it can carry out counterterrorism operations against ISIS-K and other adversaries in Afghanistan now that there is no longer a US presence on the ground for the first time in two decades after the NATO withdrawal from the country.

The US military currently uses Pakistan's airspace to reach Afghanistan as part of ongoing intelligence-gathering efforts, but there is no formal agreement in place to ensure continued access to a critical piece of airspace necessary for the US to reach Afghanistan. The air corridor through Pakistan to Afghanistan may become even more critical if and when the US resumes flights into Kabul to fly out American citizens and others who remain in the country. The third source said that an agreement was discussed when US officials visited Pakistan, but it's not yet clear what Pakistan wants or how much the US would be willing to give in return.

With no formal agreement currently in place, the US runs the risk of Pakistan refusing entry to US military aircraft and drones en route to Afghanistan.A Pentagon spokesman said the Defense Department does not comment on closed briefings due to security classifications. CNN has reached out to the National Security Council and Pakistan Embassy in Washington for comment.Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement saying "no such understanding was in place," and that "Pakistan and the U.S. have longstanding cooperation on regional security and counter-terrorism and the two sides remain engaged in regular consultations."

Uzbekistan and Tajikistan 'long shot' options for over-the-horizon operations

At the same time, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are emerging as the top options for possible locations to establish a US military presence to conduct so-called over-the-horizon operations in Afghanistan, the sources said, but both would run into severe opposition from Russian President Vladimir Putin and some local politicians. "Both are long shots," one source said, calling them "likely pipe dreams due to needing Putin's blessing." Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman visited Uzbekistan earlier this month where she discussed "the way forward in Afghanistan" with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, according to a readout of the meeting.

Currently, the US conducts its over-the-horizon operations from bases in the Middle East, forcing drones to fly from distant bases, such as those in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, around Iran and through Pakistani air space before reaching Afghanistan. The lengthy flight limits the time drones can loiter over Afghanistan gathering intelligence, and the Biden administration has been looking for closer, more effective options.The commander of US Central Command, Gen. Frank McKenzie, told lawmakers last month that he still has "the ability to look into Afghanistan," but it is "limited." McKenzie also said he was not confident in the US' ability to prevent ISIS and al Qaeda from using Afghanistan as a launchpad for terrorist activity in the future."The US maintains ongoing ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) capabilities as needed to support the over-the-horizon and counter-terrorism mission requirements," a defense official told CNN. That includes not only drones, but also signals intelligence and cyber capabilities to monitor the situation in Afghanistan.

Biden promised US would maintain counterterrorism capabliity

President Joe Biden said in July, weeks before the evacuation from Afghanistan and the fall of Kabul to the Taliban, that the US would maintain its ability to operate in the country, even if US troops were no longer on the ground. "We are developing a counterterrorism over-the-horizon capability that will allow us to keep our eyes firmly fixed on any direct threats to the United States in the region, and act quickly and decisively if needed," he said on July 8.

But lawmakers have questioned the White House's ability to fulfil that promise. The Pentagon has repeatedly said the US can continue to fight terrorism in the region through over-the-horizon capabilities, but the Defense Department has not said where those capabilities will be headquartered in the region."They're building the plane as they fly it," one Senate aide told CNN of what Pentagon officials have shared about over-the-horizon plans.On Thursday, Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said the US is "in a worse place to understand and track the terrorist threats coming from Afghanistan," following a classified briefing on Afghanistan. The briefing included a discussion of over-the-horizon capabilities, according to a Senate Armed Services Committee aide.Inhofe said in a statement that the briefing "confirmed" that the US "is now less safe than before Biden's disastrous decision to unconditionally and entirely withdraw from Afghanistan."

According to a statement issued by Media Cell Bilawal House, Chairman PPP in his message, on the eve of World Polio Day, said that it is an encouraging development that only one polio case has been reported this year so far and no such case has come to light for the last several months in Pakistan. “It is the fruit of three-decades long hard struggle of workers of the Anti-polio Program, and the manifestation of the cooperation of the entire nation.

Billawal Bhutto Zardari urged that as a responsible nation, it needs to look at the factors that had put it on a par with the war-torn country Afghanistan, in terms of polio, for a long time. “It is an unfortunate fact that public health was never among the priorities of the right wing parties, imposed in Pakistan”, he maintained.

Chairman PPP pointed out that eradication of polio from Pakistan was the dream of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who had laid the foundation of anti-polio program in the country for the first time during her tenure. “It is the mission of the leadership as well as workers of the Pakistan Peoples Party to make Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s dream a reality”, he concluded.

Former president and President of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Parliamentarians Asif Ali Zardari on Friday said the country is facing severe problems presently as the people are suffering unprecedented unemployment and economic misery but despite this, the decisions are being made outside the Parliament.“Whenever, the PPP came to power, it came through the support of the people and that is why, the future of the country and the nation was decided by the Parliament,” he said on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Begum Nusrat Bhutto.

The former president said when the PPP comes to power again through the support of the people, it will give the country a free and dignified foreign policy. “The Parliament will make decisions in the interest of the country and the people,” he said.

He said the 18th Constitutional amendment is despised by the anti-democratic thinking. The former president paid homage to late Begum Nusrat Bhutto, saying she worked for the supremacy of Constitution, restoration of democracy and empowerment of Parliament.

He said Begum Nusrat Bhutto endured severe difficulties, tragic grief and trauma in this historical struggle. “By her endurance, a golden history has been created, which shows that a leader should have the courage to render sacrifice,” he said.

The PPP has a long history of rendering sacrifices, he added.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that prices of essential and basic food items have increased to such an extent that people have been forced to come onto the streets to protest against the defective socio-economic police of the selected ruler’ inducted in Islamabad.This he said while addressing a protest rally taken out by the people of Malir against price hike at Dawood Chowrangi on Friday evening. He was accompanied by his cabinet members, advisors, special assistants, coordinators from Malir.

Mr Shah said that the prices of essential commodities and basic food items such as atta, ghee, vegetables and pulses have been increased to such an extent that people could not afford two square meals. “The hunger and helplessness have forced the people to stage protests onto the streets to send the selected ruler’ back to home,” he said and added that this poor country could not afford such a naïve, inefficient and ineffective prime minister. Mr Shah said that Pakistan was a poor country and its economy had no space to absorb inefficient and defective policies which were bound to snatch simple bread and butter from the poor people. “He [prime minister] used to say that if the price of a dollar goes up by one rupee it means the ruler was corrupt and thief,” the chief minister recalled and said during the tenure of theselected ruler’ dollar has gone up by over Rs50 and now people of this country has to decide who is corrupt and thief.

The CM said that he [PM] has spent his entire life out of the country and he has no first hand knowledge of the poverty in Pakistan. “He has a very limited vision to frame the polices, now his further stay in power would destroy the country, therefore he should be ousted,” he said.Murad Ali Shah said that keeping in view the plight of the poor people Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has urged the party to stage protest rallies against price hike and defective policies of the rulers in every city so that their policies could be exposed.Mr Shah said that under the leadership of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Pakistan Peoples Party would steer the country out of the present socio-political crisis. “Bilawal Bhutto would lead the country to change the lifestyle of poor people,” he said and added only true peoples leaders like Bilawal Bhutto were capable enough to frame pro-poor policies.

The protesters raised slogans against the federal government and demanded removal of the prime minister. The women had participated in the protest rally carrying nan’ in their hands just to show that they could not afford it. The chief minister said that the people involved in the sugar, and wheat crisis were close aides of the prime minister but he [PM] was giving lectures on eliminating corruption. “The prices of petrol and diesel have broken all the previous records, therefore prices of every item right from vegetables to cooking oil have gone out of reach of poor people. “This is a sheer enmity with the poor people of this country and the rulers who have snatched asimple morsel’ from the children of poor people have remained no more in power in this country,” he warned. Murad Ali Shah said that the time has ripe to oust the selected ruler and bring the truly elected representatives like Bilawal Bhutto in power to serve the people to the best of their abilities. The protesters raised the slogans of `Prime Minister Bilawal Bhutto’.

PPP General Secretary Sindh Waqar Mahdi also spoke on the occasion and criticised the PTI government for its failed policies.

Remembering Begum Nusrat Bhutto: Mother of Democracy - iron lady who stood against undemocratic forces in Pakistan.

Begum Nusrat Bhutto was an iron lady who stood against undemocratic forces in Pakistan. She was awarded the highest civilian award for the democratic struggle against dictatorship. She faced the tyrannical rule of the dictator Zia-ul-Haq with utmost bravado.

Despite house arrests and other difficulties created for her by the government, she persisted in her struggle to raise the flag of democracy in Pakistan. Her courage was a source of inspiration for the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers.

She led her people by example and gave them a clear message that there would be no compromise on the struggle for democracy even if it meant writing history with their blood.After she lost her husband to dictatorship, Begum Nusrat Bhutto took charge of PPP as the chairperson and continued her struggle against martial law. The undemocratic forces were so terrified of this strong-willed lady that they tried to put out the spark burning for democracy by arrests and jails.

The attempts to crush the voices of democracy were thwarted as Begum Bhutto kept the party flag aloft. When she was assaulted with baton charge at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, a photograph of the wounded Begum Bhutto was published in all the newspapers, revealing the ugly face of dictatorship. The photograph has been imprinted in the memory of the nation and they are haunted by the image when their mother was treated savagely by the autocratic ruler.

When such tactics proved futile, the state resorted to emotional and mental torture by targeting Begum Bhutto’s children. Her daughter was put under house arrest and denied medical assistance. She was treated brutally in Sukkar jail and was kept away and separated from her mother. However, the resolve of the Bhutto ladies shook the dictator and added to his fear.

After the judicial murder of Shaheed Zulfiqar Bhutto, Begum Bhutto redoubled her political struggle for democracy. Proving his cowardice, General Zia-ul-Haq postponed the elections scheduled on 16 October, 1979. The voice of PPP, Musawat newspaper was shut down.

Along with journalists, PPP workers were punished with lashes but the sky continued to witness their echoes of jiyaye Bhutto. If their leader was facing cruelties and yet marched on for democracy, the workers decided they would not let her down. During this era of darkness, Begum Bhutto also faced separation from both her sons, Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Shahnawaz Bhutto. Despite all the difficulties, she dashed all hopes of Zia ul Haq to easily sail through in his boat of dictatorship. Begum Bhutto was diagnosed with lung cancer during her long detention and the regime tried to seize the opportunity of taking revenge on its opponent by denying her aid. However, due to national and international pressure, she was allowed to go outside Pakistan for the sake of her health and treatment. On 22 November, 1982, Begum Bhutto reached Munich in Germany. Her health was very frail and she was accompanied by her sister as caretaker. Even though she was extremely ill, she addressed party workers who had gathered from different European countries.

“For the sake of democracy in our country, human rights, and restoration of the constitution, you must come forward and protest without fearing the martial law. It is the duty of the workers of Pakistan People’s Party and all the democratic citizens of Pakistan to give a final shove to the apparently strong but hollow pillars of martial law to bring them down on the ground,” she had said.

Benazir Bhutto proved true successor to her father Quaid-E-Awam Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto as predicted by Begum Sahiba.

She led party to victory twice against all odds. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto became leader of international stature. Begum Nusrat Bhutto proudly stated about Benazir Bhutto, “She is an intelligent, courageous, and politically enlightened girl who will play an important role in taking PPP to new heights of success. Bhutto Shaheed has especially given political training to his daughter.

When Bhutto Shaheed was in jail, he was allowed one hour to meet with visitors. He used to give political lectures during this hour. This teaching during the last days of Bhutto Shaheed proved to be of immense importance for our daughter. “Benazir has passed every test and will offer effective leadership to the party,” he had stated.

Begum Nusrat Bhutto’s resolve was so strong that it travelled from one generation to another. Her children continued her struggle against dictatorship and today her grandchild Bilawal Bhutto is a champion of democracy. There is no doubt that the contributions of the Bhutto family for democracy in Pakistan are invaluable.

Begum Nusrat Bhutto was born on 23 March 1928 and she passed away on 23 October 2011.

پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کے چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے مادرِ جمہوریت بیگم نصرت بھٹو کو شاندار الفاظ میں خراج عقیدت پیش کیا ہے، جن کا 10 واں یوم وفات کل (23 اکتوبر بروز ہفتہ) انتھائی عقیدت و احترام منایا جائے گا۔

میڈیا سیل بلاول ہاوَس کی جانب سے جاری کردہ بیان کے مطابق پی پی پی چیئرمین نے کہا ہے کہ بیگم نصرت بھٹو نے پاکستان کی عوام اور جمہوریت کے لیے اپنا پورا خاندان قربان کردیا، اس طرح کی قربانی اور حوصلے کی مثالیں انسانی تاریخ میں نہ ہونے کے برابر ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ملک کے پہلے منتخب وزیراعظم شہید ذوالفقار علی بھٹو کے عدالتی قتل کے بعد بیگم نصرت بھٹو نے ملک کی جمہوری قوتوں کو متحد کیا اور ایک بڑی عوامی جدوجہد کی قیادت کی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ قوم کو وہ دن آج بھی یاد ہے، جب جنرل ضیاء کی آمریت کے خلاف لاہور کے قذافی گراوَنڈ میں احتجاجی مظاہرے کی قیادت کرنے کے دوران بیگم بھٹو کو ریاستی تشدد کا نشانہ بنایا گیا، جس کے نتیجے میں وہ لہولہان ہوگئیں تھیں۔ مادرِ جمہوریت نے ہمیں بدترین آمریت کا مقابلہ کرنا اور ہر قیمت پر عوامی حقوق کی جدوجہد کے پرچم کو تھام کر کھڑا ہونا سکھایا۔

چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے کہا کہ بیگم نصرت بھٹو کی زندگی پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کے جیالوں سمیت جمہوریت پسند اور حقوق کے لیئے سرگرمِ عمل ہر کارکن کے لیئے مشعلِ راہ ہے، جنہوں نے ذاتی طور انسانیت سوز تشدد اور مظالم تو برداشت کرلیئے، لیکن جمہور کے مفاد و بھبود کے کاز پر کوئی آنچ آنے نہیں دی۔

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on Thursday kept Pakistan on the grey list as it “needs to further demonstrate that investigation and prosecution of proscribed terrorists and terror groups is being seriously pursued," said FATF chief Marcus Pleyer at the end the global finance watchdog’s deliberations that began on Sunday.

“On the action plan from 2019, we require Pakistan to demon that terrorist financing investigators are targeting UN proscribed senior leaders and commanders,’’ said Pleyer but discounted any possibility of moving it to the Black List.

“Pakistan has already completed 30 out of 34 action points. So this shows the clear commitment of Pakistan Government. So there was no discussion on blacklisting. The Government is cooperating with FATF and we urged it to very quickly address the remaining four items of as soon as possible,’’ he said.

Pleyer denied that it was pressure by India that led to Pakistan’s retention on the grey list. “FATF is a technical body and we take our decisions by consensus. It is not one country but 39 jurisdictions and the decision is taken by consensus on a jurisdiction to be put under increased monitoring,’’ answered Pleyer when asked whether it was India which is instrumental in keeping Pakistan on the grey list in June 2018.

In a further blow to Pakistan, Turkey, its closest ally in FATF, was also put on the Grey List along with Jordan and Mali.

Pakistan is estimated to have lost over $ 30 billion in foreign investments since it was it was grey listed. Till the meeting, FATF has 22 countries under “grey listing”, including Albania, Morocco, Syria, South Sudan and Yemen. It has removed two – Botswana and Mauritius – and added three – Mali, Jordan and Turkey – making it a total of 23 countries on the Grey List.

Since June, the FATF has been focusing on Pakistan’s money laundering deficiencies after the Asia Pacific Group found a number of serious issues. On terror financing, Pakistan had addressed all but one of the 27 action points.The revelation of Pandora Papers has also led the FATF to recommend a sweeping number of changes in which anonymous shell companies are used by criminals and the corrupt. “The same money is often used to facilitate further crime. The Pandora Papers have put a spotlight on issue. The proposed changes in global ownership are to close loopholes and regulatory weakness for too long used as cover up for criminal activities and hide wealth. Investigators will now find who true owners are,’’ said the FATF chief.

In this respect, FATF has proposed amendments to Recommendation 24 on the transparency and beneficial ownership (BO) of legal persons.

ڈی ایم کا حصہ ہے یا نہیں مگر حکومت کو گھر پیپلز پارٹی ہی بھیجے گی۔

سینیٹر مولا بخش چانڈیو سے ملاقات کے موقع پر گفتگو کرتے ہوئے بلاول بھٹو نے کہا کہ پیپلز پارٹی کی حکومت مخالف تحریک مسلسل جاری ہے۔

بلاول بھٹو نے کہا کہ عوام کو موجودہ حکومت کے رحم و کرم پر نہیں چھوڑا جاسکتا، حکومت عوام دشمن اقدامات کا کوئی بھی موقع ہاتھ سے نہیں جانے دے رہی، عوام دشمن حکومت جھوٹی خبریں پھیلا رہی ہے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ پیپلز پارٹی کی حکومت مخالف تحریک مسلسل جاری ہے، حقیقی اپوزیشن کا کردار پیپلز پارٹی ہی ادا کر رہی ہے۔

Sindh Human Rights Vigilance Committee plans fact-finding mission to inquire into unprecedented suicides in Mirpurkhas division

 The first meeting of the Provincial Human Rights Vigilance Committee was held under the chairmanship of Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh Surendar Valasai. 

The meeting was attended by members of the committee and Secretary Human Rights Department Sindh Javed Sibghatullah Mahar. Surendar Valasai said that the main objective of the Provincial Human Rights Vigilance Committee is to ensure protection of the rights provided to the people in the Constitution in this regard. Appreciating the suggestions of the committee members, the Special Assistant directed the Secretary of Human Rights to write a letter to the Department of Education to include the UN Declaration of Human Rights in the syllabus.

 Surendar Valasai said that in many districts of Sindh, personal enmities lead to business and other crimes. There is a need to set up a fact-finding committees on unprecedented cases of suicides in Mirpurkhas division and elsewhere to meet the demands of justice. He said that human rights committees would be formed at district level soon. At the request of the members, Surendar Valasai said that smart ID cards should be issued to the committee members by the Human Rights Department so that in case of any human rights violation, they can introduce themselves to the concerned department. Surendar Valasai said that out of 9 UN Conventions on Human Rights, 7 conventions have been signed by the Government of Pakistan, out of which 5 were signed during the PPP regime. He said that the implementation of the Human Rights Convention would help in obtaining GSP Plus status and would also bring economic benefits of $1.5 billion. 

Earlier, Secretary Human Rights Javed Sibghatullah Mahar briefed the committee members about the steps taken by the Sindh government to protect human rights. He also briefed the members about the aims and objectives of the committee. During the meeting, the committee members made various recommendations and suggestions. 

Tahir Hassan Khan said that seminars and workshops should be organized across the province to create awareness about the human rights provisions in the constitution and also recommended the celebration of International Human Rights Day on a large scale this year. Another member, Nawaz Dhari, suggested that transgender and special people be included in the committee. Ayub Khoso asked about the scope and working of the committee.
