PPP is the only party which can protect Azad Kashmir and Occupied Kashmir – says Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during a rally in Azad Kashmir

 

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was greeted by a rousing reception when he arrived at Dhan Gali to lead a rally in connection with the beginning of the Party election campaign of Azad Kashmir elections. Qamar Zaman Kaira accompanied the Chairman PPP. Thousands of party workers raised slogans on his arrival and showered rose petals on his motorcade.

Thousands of workers received their Chairman with traditional zeal and fervour at Dhadial raising Jeay Bhutto and other party slogans. Addressing PPP workers Chairman Bilawal said that today we are with our Kashmiri brethren with who we have shared relations from three generations. Kashmiri people supported Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. They also supported Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. We have struggled against dictatorships together and history is a witness to that. You had supported President Zardari and Qamar Zaman Kaira was your minister for Kashmir affairs. You supported peoples Party in difficult times as well. The development work which was carried out in Kashmir was and is unprecedented.

Chairman PPP said that the behaviour and policy of federal and Kashmir governments with the people is derogating. We feel your pain because you are the comrades of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed |Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and I cannot leave you at the mercy of these callous governments. Now I am among you all, and once again you have to support the PPP like you did with the Quaid-e-Awam and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. If you want for the problems facing Kashmir to be solved, then you have to support the PPP. In occupied Kashmir people are fighting against Modi’s policies and here in Azad Kashmir people are fighting poverty, inflation and unemployment in Imran Khan’s government. You are suffering because of the failed and incompetent government of Imran Khan. The people of Kashmir always prospered during the PPP governments. The PPP is the only party to get you out of these sufferings. We should form a government of PPP which can not only stand up to Modi’s government but also save you from this PTIMF government.

He asked the workers to campaign door to door and deliver the message of PPP. He resolved that the next prime minister of Azad Kashmir will be from PPP. He asked to the people to elect PPP candidate, Afsar Shahid with a huge margin.

At Palak Chaksawari in Mirpur Azad Kashmir, addressing a huge crowd Chairman Bilawal said that he is always happy to visit Kashmir because the relations between the PPP and the people of Kashmir go back three generations. Our relation is not only political but historical, and it will continue for generations to come. When you supported Shaheed Bhutto, we wrote history together. When you supported Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, we also recorded a history. When you supported President Zardari, the PPP government carried out historic development. Now, we have started the journey of a new generation. The youth of both Azad and Occupied Kashmir are also starting a new journey. They are fighting against Modi’s government in Occupied Kashmir and against Imran Khan’s policy of unemployment, poverty and inflation in Azad Kashmir. They cannot send their children to schools, buy medicines for their elders and feed their children. Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had said that we will fight for Kashmir for a thousand years if need be. There was a time when Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto said that where Kashmiris shed sweat, we will shed blood. Now, Modi has done a historical injustice to Kashmiri people and Imran Khan’s response is “What can I do?”. 

When Zulfikar Ali Bhutto used to give a call for strike in Azad Kashmir, the people of Occupied Kashmir used to observe it as well. Imran Khan tried to find a solution for Kashmir by changing the name of Kashmir Highway to Srinagar Highway. You have to respond to this failed and incompetent prime minister by your votes. You have to tell the world that regardless of what this puppet prime minister says, the Kashmiri people are standing with the people of Occupied Kashmir. You have to give a message to the entities who declared the person who gave you nuclear capability and missile technology, a security risk. This puppet has not only compromised on Kashmir, but also wants to compromise Pakistan’s nuclear capability. The Kashmiri people will declare this puppet prime minister a security risk by rejecting him in the elections. You will chase out PTI from Kashmir. After electing a prime minister in Kashmir, we will elect a PPP prime minister in Pakistan as well, who will not compromise on Kashmir and will also be able to solve your problems. There is only one party which can not only protect Azad Kashmir, but Occupied Kashmir as well. You have to elect PPP candidate with huge margin. The PPP will serve the people of Kashmir after getting elected on 25 July.

Addressing party workers at Dhana, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that late Matloob Inqilabi served the Kashmiri people tirelessly and kept the flag of Shaheed Zualfikar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed flying high. Now the son of the Matloob Inqilabi will continue his mission. Now the new generation is starting his struggle and now Matloob Inqilabi will start his struggle with me.

The PPP has always served the people of Kashmir and I have come here to ask your support and your vote. Now this new generation will solve the problem confronting Azad Kashmir and will also stand by with the Occupied Kashmir. Even a child knows that the PPP has given employment to the Kashmiri people. You have to support the PPP ask anybody whether a government servant or a teacher or a soldier, their salaries were increased during the PPP governments. We have to increase the salaries and pension and have to provide employment to ever household. The nuclear capability and missile technology is with us due to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed. This cowered Imran Khan says that we have no need of nuclear capability. We will not allow this puppet to compromise on our nuclear capability. You have to vote for the PPP on 25th July and have to vote for Waleed Inqilabi and all other PPP candidates. The PPP the only party which has not shook hands with Modi. We don’t celebrate with such people and we do not share our sadness with them. We have always supported Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Mard-i-Hur President Zardari and now you will support me.

مدرسہ، منبر، مولوی، مرد پرائیوٹ لمیٹڈ

ہر بات کہہ لینے کی نہیں ہوتی کیونکہ ہر بات ہر کسی کے سمجھنے کی نہیں ہوتی۔ اللہ نے جیسے سب کو الگ الگ سکت اور نوعیت کا نظام ہضم دے رکھا ہے ایسے ہی سیانی گیانی بات دماغ میں جذب کرنے کی صلاحیت بھی سب کے پاس ایک سی نہیں۔

مذہب کا موضوع بھی ایسا ہی بھاری بھر کم ہے۔ مذہب ایک الہامی معاملہ ہے، جس پہ ایمان لانا، ایمان قائم رکھنا، مذہب کے بتائے طریقے سے زندگی گزارنا یہاں تک کہ بہت سے مقامات پر عقل میں کلبلاتے سوالات کو ایک طرف رکھ کر مذہب کے بتائے راستوں کو چن لینا، یہ سب کسی بھی مذہب کے ماننے والوں پر فرض ہے۔

مذہب بہت نازک موضوع ہے، یہ بیک وقت تحقیق مانگتا ہے اور بغیر کسی تحقیق کے اندھا یقین بھی۔ مذہب سائنس کی الجھی گتھی کو ایک آیت کے پانچ الفاظ میں لپیٹ لیتا ہے اور یہی مذہب ہے جو حضرت انسان کو جہان کی وسعتوں میں الجھائے رکھتا ہے۔ ہزاروں برسوں کی تاریخ کو لمحہ بھر میں سامنے لاکھڑا کرتا ہے۔ مذہب تغیر کو فطرت کہتا ہے مگر خلاف فطرت ہونے والی ہر تبدیلی کے راستے میں کھڑا ہوتا ہے۔

یہ تو طے ہو گیا کہ مذہب اور مذہبی تعلیم ایک نازک، سنجیدہ، پیچیدہ اور انتہائی غور طلب، تحقیق طلب معاملہ ہے۔ اب ذرا اپنے چاروں طرف نظر دوڑائیں۔ خود دیکھیں کہ مذہب کن ہاتھوں میں ہے؟ مذہب کو اپنا اوڑنا بچھونا کس نے بنا رکھا ہے، مذہب پر کس طبقے کی اجارہ داری ہے؟ مذہب پہ انسانی وسائل کون لگاتا ہے؟ سرمایہ کاری کون کرتا ہے؟ مذہب کو زیادہ وقت کون دیتا ہے؟ مذہب پر تحقیق کس کی ہے؟

اسلامی دنیا میں مذہب اسلام کی تعلیم، ترویج اور تحقیق کا ذمہ دینی مدارس کا ہے۔ مسجد کے امام، قرآن پڑھانے والے قاری صاحب، حافظ، مولوی، مُلا، عالم، مولانا، مفتی، شیخ، علامہ کے مختلف ناموں اور علمی درجات کے اعتبار سے انہی مدارس کی پراڈکٹ ہوتے ہیں۔

ویسے تو جامعات میں بھی اسلامیات کے موضوع پر پی ایچ ڈی کرائی جاتی ہے وہاں سے اسلامک سکالر نکلتے ہیں۔ مگر معاشرے میں جو مقام و مرتبہ کسی مشہور مدرسے سے منسلک مولوی کو ملتا ہے یونیورسٹی کے اسلامک سکالر بہت کوشش کے باوجود اس کا عشر عشیر بھی حاصل نہیں کر پاتے۔

یہ بھی واضح ہو گیا کہ دین اسلام کی تعلیم و ترویج کا اصل چشمہ مدارس سے پھوٹتا ہے۔ اب ذرا مذہب کے موضوع کی سنجیدگی جانچیں، اسلامی مدارس کی کلیدی حیثیت دیکھیں اور یہ دیکھیں کہ ان مدارس میں جاتا کون ہے اور دینی تعلیم کس کی ترجیح ہے۔

بچہ یتیم ہو تو مدرسے کے حوالے کر دیا جاتا ہے۔ گھر میں کھانے کو دانے نہ ہوں تو سکول کون بھیج سکتا ہے، مدارس انہیں کھانا دیتے ہیں دینی تعلیم دیتے ہیں۔ جن بچوں کا مقیاس ذہانت کم ہو یا جنہیں روایتی تعلیم میں شدید دقت ہو ایسے بچے مدرسے بٹھا دیے جاتے ہیں۔ جن خاندانوں نے مدارس اور مساجد کا کنٹرول سنبھال رکھا ہے ان کے بچے دینی تعلیم کی جانب جاتے ہیں۔

مدارس مذہب اسلام کے نام پر بنے ہوتے ہیں مگر ان کی تعلیم کن مضوعات کے گرد گھومتی ہے ہمیں معلوم ہے اور ایڈمنسٹریشن چند نامور علما کی مٹھی میں ہوتی ہے۔ یہاں تک کہ یہ مدارس سیاسی جلسوں اور پریشر گروپ کے طور پر بھی استعمال ہوتے اب نظر آتے ہیں۔

مذہب اور اس کی تعلیم کے دائرے میں نہ آپ کو مکالمہ ملے نہ مناظرہ۔ نہ کوئی تحقیق ملے  گی، نہ دیگر علوم و فنون سے تعلق نظر آئے گا۔ دین اسلام صرف مذہبی افراد کے لیے نہیں اس میں امن، برابری، منطق، فلسفہ، تاریخ، سائنس، سیاست سب کچھ شامل ہے مگر موجودہ مذہبی سسٹم میں آپ کو ایک مخصوص طبقہ تو ملے گا مگر معاشرے کا عام فرد نہیں۔ اور پیچھے رہ گئی عورت تو اس نظام میں اس کی تو خیر کوئی گنجائش ہی نہیں۔

کیا دینی تعلیم کے لیے مدارس ہی آخری سٹاپ ہیں؟ کیا جدید علوم کے ساتھ دین کی تعلیم نہیں لی جاسکتی؟ کیا اعلیٰ دینی تعلیم کا بوجھ عورتیں نہیں اٹھا سکتیں؟

 

مذہب اسلام  سے تحقیق، مکالمہ اور جمعیت نکال دیں تو پیچھے کیا رہ جاتا ہے؟ میرے خیال میں تو صرف مولوی، منبر، مدرسہ اور مرد پرائیوٹ لمیٹڈ۔ پھر دینی تعلیم کے اداروں میں جنسی درندگی کے ایسے ایسے واقعات جن کا ذکر بھی کرنا محال ہے۔

بات شروع ہوئی تھی ایک لطیف الہامی معاملے یعنی آسمانی مذہب دین اسلام اور اس کی تعلیم و تحقیق سے۔ اور بات آ کر کہاں پھنسی؟ ایک مخصوص طبقے کی جارہ داری، اسلام کی ٹھیکیداری پہ۔

چند ایک سوالوں کے ساتھ آپ کو دعوت فکر دیے جاتی ہوں۔

کیا قرآن کو جُزدان، اسلام کو مدرسے، شرعی فرائض و واجبات کو رمضان، اور اسلام کو صرف عبادات تک محدود کرنے والے ہم نہیں؟

کیا ایک مخصوص گروپ کو مذہب کا ٹھیکہ دینے والے آپ اور ہم نہیں، کیا مذہب کے موضوع کو ہم نے اپنے کندھوں کا بوجھ سمجھ کر اتارا اور مولوی پہ نہیں ڈالا؟ یہ شاید اس لیے تو نہیں کہ گناہ ثواب کا سارا جھنجھٹ مولوی جانے۔

کیا اسلام، قرآن پاک، احادیث، شریعت، طریقت، تاریخ، فقہہ پڑھنے کی کوئی آفاقی ذمہ داری صرف مولوی پر ہی عائد ہوتی ہے؟ کیا دینی تعلیم کے لیے مدارس ہی آخری سٹاپ ہیں؟ کیا جدید علوم کے ساتھ دین کی تعلیم نہیں لی جاسکتی؟ کیا  اعلیٰ دینی تعلیم کا بوجھ عورتیں نہیں اٹھا سکتیں؟

بعض مولوی حضرات کی تو جتنی بساط ہے وہ مذہب کے ساتھ وہی کر رہے ہیں مگر ہماری حقیقت یہ ہے کہ ہم نے دینی تعلیم کو ترجیحات کے آخری خانے میں رکھا ہوا ہے، اپنی تن آسانی کی خاطر ہم نے یہ ٹھیکہ خود مولوی، مدرسے، منبر اور مرد کو دے رکھا ہے۔ مذہب کو ایک ٹولے کا پرائیوٹ لمیٹڈ پراجیکٹ ہم نے بنایا ہے۔

Pakistan in troubled waters Stuck in Chinese debt, its problems are only growing

Five decades after its surrender in Dhaka, Pakistan is finding that Bangladesh, which remained poverty-stricken because of its exploitation by West Pakistan, is today a dynamic and growingly prosperous country. Bangladesh, with a population of 160 million, is now competing with the booming economies of its Southeast Asian neighbours. Its economy has grown at 6% annually over the past two decades. Even during the Covid challenge, it is expected to register a growth of 6.8% in 2021 and 7.2% in 2022, by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Pakistan, on the other hand, is a massive recipient of foreign doles. It averaged a growth rate of around 3.5% in the years preceding the pandemic.

Bangladesh has also been far ahead of Pakistan in human development indicators, like women’s education and literacy. With foreign exchange reserves of $45 billion, Bangladesh has provided $200 million under a currency swap agreement to Sri Lanka. Bangladesh is ahead of Pakistan economically, even as it spared no effort to look after hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar.

Pakistan, in contrast, has uneasy relations with virtually all its neighbours, notably India and Afghanistan. Pakistan has also incurred Iranian displeasure over its trans-border support for disgruntled elements from Iran. Pakistan has become a virtual international “basket case”, feverishly looking around for financial “aid” from international institutions like the IMF, World Bank, ADB and its “all-weather friend” China. Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, which have contributed generously to address Pakistan’s economic woes, recently had second thoughts on aiding Pakistan.

Pakistan’s economic woes have grown rapidly in recent years. Its total external debt had risen from $44.35 billion in 2013 to $90.12 billion in April 2021. Interestingly, Pakistan’s debt repayments to China rose from 9.3% in the recent past to 27.4% in 2021. These are official figures, which do not necessarily reflect the real position on Pakistan’s growing debts to China. The real costs will be substantially more when the $65 billion CPEC, linking Gilgit-Baltistan in PoK to the port of Gwadar in Balochistan, fully takes shape. This ‘corridor’ may be of great use to China. Its utility to Pakistan is, however, questionable, especially given the huge costs of the debts that Pakistan will have to repay to China.Gwadar is now virtually a Chinese port. It is just a question of time before the Chinese take over total control of the port. They even now have a dominant say on who enters and who leaves the port. Gwadar is set to become a major strategic naval base for China. This becomes inevitable as China proceeds to complete its wide range of projects under CPEC, which will ultimately link Gilgit-Baltistan to the Arabian Sea at Gwadar. It is very likely that with Pakistan borrowing more than it can repay, Gwadar will become a replica of the Hambantota port in Sri Lanka that was built with Chinese ‘aid’. Hambantota is now virtually owned by China.

The foundations of the CPEC were laid in 2013, when Chinese premier Li Keqiang visited Pakistan. The project has become more controversial after Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa was appointed its chairman. He and his family reportedly have a colourful record of their assets abroad. Saudi Arabia, which was planning to invest $10 billion in the Gwadar port, has now withdrawn and indicated that the money will be invested in Karachi. Saudi Arabia knows that China is set to invest $25 billion in Riyadh’s main rival/adversary, Iran, located close to Gwadar.

While one would have expected a sense of circumspection in Pakistan’s dealings with the Americans, Imran Khan and his loyalists have gone ballistic in criticising and embarrassing the Biden administration. The Pakistan media has also gone ballistic, declaring that the US had been told ‘firmly’ that Pakistan would not provide any bases on its territory for US drones to be deployed for action in Afghanistan. There have been separate meetings between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and CIA director William Burns, with their Pakistani counterparts, and the army chief, General Bajwa. Moreover, wide publicity was given to Imran’s decision to refuse a request for a meeting by the visiting CIA director.

The Pakistan army, which has sought to maintain good relations with the US, would be wondering what is going on, as virtually every visiting American invariably pays homage to General Bajwa, who understandably has concerns about instability and turmoil in Afghanistan. Pakistan is going to be fully focused on developments in Afghanistan in the wake of the US withdrawal. The Taliban are determined to rule Afghanistan again. They are not ready to share power. The Taliban will, however, meet growing resistance as they approach Kabul. They will also meet strong resistance in non-Pashtun regions. While Pakistan is backing its protégés, it will have to watch out for trouble in its Pashtun areas bordering Afghanistan. Iran would reluctantly be drawn into the conflict.

India would be well advised to stay at an arm’s length from any direct involvement in the raging civil war, while remaining in touch with its friends in Afghanistan. There can be no meaningful relations with an Imran Khan-led government. We, however, need to keep our “back channel” lines of communication with Pakistan open. India should also ensure that Pakistan is not let off the hook in the Financial Action Task Force, especially given its continuing support for leaders of terrorist groups. Moreover, the architects of the terrorist attacks on our Parliament and Mumbai — Maulana Masood Azhar and Hafiz Mohammed Saeed — have mysteriously disappeared, just before the FATF meeting.

PPP will not support the government’s legislation to facilitate Kulbhushan Jadhav – says Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari talking to media at the Parliament House Islamabad on Thursday, has said that PPP will not support the government’s legislation that is being brought to facilitate Kulbhushan Jadhav.

Responding to a question about the shortage of gas in Sindh, Chairman Bilawal said that the crisis of energy sector which is looming on Pakistan will have to be borne by the common people of Pakistan. It is a very unfortunate situation as it was avoidable but because of the failure of the government, the common people will have to suffer. The PPP always fights for its rights and we think that production orders of every member should be issued for the budget session. No one can be stopped from representing their constituency. Due to the continued incarceration of Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, the people of Sukkur are deprived of their representation. If the speaker does not fulfil his responsibility, then you are sending a message that the members will not be able to exercise their right, be it stopping the budget or casting teir cote for the no confidence motion.

 This is a very disputed and anti-people budget, if the House is not complete and there is no representation of Waziristan and Sukkur, then as we say, the entire budget process is illegal. The speaker should take note of the decision of Islamabad High Court into account for issuing production orders of Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah. The opposition leader has sent in writing to the speaker for the production order of Khursheed Shah. I have also sent a letter to the speaker today.
Regarding the unfortunate death of Usman Kakar, Chairman Bilawal said that we have great respect for Usman Kakar and he was an honourable colleague, we will miss him in the Parliament. We tried our best but unfortunately, we lost him. We will do according to the demands of his family and his party. The government should also address those demands.

Regarding Afghanistan, he said that he had a point in his budget speech about it, because Pakistan has been dealing with this situation since1980. Whatever happens in Afghanistan will impact the entire region and the world. We would have to face the consequences for decades for the decisions we make about Afghanistan now. This is why we demanded that the ministries and institutions which are involved in negotiations should bring the negotiation on record. PPP has a viewpoint and it should be heard. We will hear them out but the way our government and international powers are handling the situation, is not making things easy for Pakistan and Afghanistan and our coming generations. We have to address this issue.

 As far as giving airbases to the United States, it is up to the government, and we hope that the decisions taken will be in the interest of Pakistan. We do not trust the prime minister because he takes u-turns and we are concerned that he might take a u-turn on this as well.

Addressing  the Kashmir elections, Chairman Bilawal said that he is starting the campaign from tomorrow. About the political activities in the Punjab, he said that not only Punjab, but in th e entire Pakstan the situation for PPP is going to improve and President Zardari’s role is very important in all this. He is the only politician in the country who can unite all politicians. President Zardari had gone to Lahore to consult his doctors and we are thankful to Pervez Ilahi who visited him to enquire about his health, and whoever has ever worked with the PPP, we want to work with them. These meetings with President Zardari are only the beginning and a lot will happen in the coming days. We will keep trying to form government in the centre and every province of Pakistan. We think that we can solve the problems through a progressive manifesto of the PPP.

About the forced conversions in Sindh, Chairman Bilawal said that crimes take place everywhere, but we have to see what the response of political parties on such issues. The Pakistani community is very patriotic, and most of them live in Sindh and forced conversions are an issue for us but PPP is always at the forefront of minority, women and the rights of the downtrodden masses. It is unfortunate that the legislation on the issue is not up to the mark. Sindh is the only province which banned underage marriages. Unfortunately, some judicial decisions violate this law but we are trying to protect every citizen.

Regarding the bill on Kulbhushan Jadhav, he said that the government brought the bill in the darkness of the night for this individual, but he did not take advantage of this bill. Now, they are bringing this bill to the assembly. We will oppose this bill because we were not taken into confidence. PPP will not become a party in facilitating Kulbhushan Jadhav. If Imran Khan wants to facilitate him, he can do so. However, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PPP will not support it.

Answering a question about Manzoor Watto, Chairman Bilawal said that Watto says that he never left PPP so we think that we should work with everyone. The people who have always been sincere to the PPP, they will be dealt differently and we will also work with the old comrades who are coming back. PPP’s doors are open for everyone who raised the slogan of Jeay Bhutto. We want to form a progressive government in this country and for this, we will take along whoever is ready to work with us.

Regarding Shahbaz Sharif’s proposed APC, he said that we are ready to cooperate with the opposition leader on every effort to unite the opposition. The people in the government from my province were more passionate in their speeches because the PPP had defeated them badly in their cities. They are not able to tolerate their defeat. PTI used to say that Karachi is their city, we brought them down from the first to the sixth position. The PPP jiyalas badly defeated them in Matli, Badin. They will remember it for their whole life. They should take out their frustration on their own prime minister Imran Khan who did not care for them. Hence, they lost from Badin to Karachi to Kashmir. I will ask the PPP jiyalas to not adopt their language and attitude and work coolly and solve peoples’ problems .

Army Gen. Mark A. Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, admonished lawmakers over questions about critical race theory at a Wednesday hearing, saying it is important for leaders to be well-versed in many schools of thought.

“I’ve read Mao Zedong. I’ve read Karl Marx. I’ve read Lenin. That doesn’t make me a communist,” Milley told the House Armed Services Committee. “So what is wrong with understanding … the country which we are here to defend?”

Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) criticized reports that the U.S. Military Academy at West Point teaches a course involving the theory, which broadly explores the idea that racism reaches beyond individual prejudice and affects minorities at the institutional level, particularly in criminal justice.

A guest lecturer at the academy included phrases such as “White rage,” Waltz claimed, and he pressed Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, the nation’s first Black Pentagon chief, to investigate further.

Soon after, when the committee gave Milley a chance to expand, he launched into an impassioned defense of inquiry about U.S. society and its racial dynamics. He emphasized that the U.S. Military Academy is a university.

“I want to understand White rage. And I’m White,” Milley said, focused on learning more about the mostly White, mostly male mob that stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6.

“What is it that caused thousands of people to assault this building and try to overturn the Constitution of the United States of America. What caused that?” Milley asked. “I want to find that out.”

Only one elective course at the academy, “Politics of Race, Gender, and Sexuality,” includes critical race theory in its syllabus, Lt. Gen. Darryl A. Williams, the university superintendent, said in a letter provided to Waltz. About 23 cadets take it a year, mostly by cadets majoring in political science, Williams said.

Milley said he was offended that critics, among them GOP lawmakers and right-wing commentators like Fox News host Tucker Carlson, have accused the military of being “woke or something else because we’re studying some theories that are out there.”

Republicans for months have raked military and Pentagon leaders over policy and personnel changes, such as relaxing hair restrictions for women and reversing bans on open transgender service, as distractions fueled by a liberal agenda.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) had questioned the curriculum at the academy, later prompting the comments by Milley.

After the hearing, Gaetz took a swipe at Milley on Twitter: “With Generals like this it’s no wonder we’ve fought considerably more wars than we’ve won.”

A viral video has in many ways exposed a practice of child abuse at some religious schools that clerics don’t want people to talk about.A sexually explicit video involving a senior Muslim cleric that surfaced a few days back has reignited a debate on the seemingly rampant abuse that takes place in Pakistan’s religious schools known as madrassahs.

Seventy-year-old Aziz ur Rehman, a scholar at one of the top Islamic institutions in Pakistan's second largest city of Lahore, has confessed he forced a student to perform sexual acts in return for a promise to let him take an exam after he was caught cheating. Rehman is now in police custody.

The case involving Rehman, who’s a Mufti, which means he’s among the highest echelons of the clergy, can become a test case for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government on how to tackle a politically sensitive matter, experts said. “What I am concerned about is all those kids who are still studying at that madrassah (seminary). We don’t know how many of them have been abused in the same way, ” said Dr Kishwar Enam, a pediatrician who works with underge victims of assault and is affiliated with multiple NGOs.

“Authorities must immediately screen all the students for any signs of abuse. We can already see many supporters of this mufti are coming forward in his defence — this clearly means many of them could can even be involved in a similar crime,” she told TRT World.

Jamia Manzor Al-Islamia, where Rehman has been a teacher for many years, is home to more than 500 kids between the ages of 8 and 25 who come from poor families and remote towns and villages.

Both Rehman and the student who leaked the video hail from a region in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province which borders Afghanistan.

It’s difficul to estimate how rampant sexual abuse is in the 20,000 seminaries spread aross the country as most cases are never reported because victims and their families are too scared to come forward, said Rana Asif, a childs rights activist who has assisted street children since the early 2000s. “One way to look at the stats is that in the last year there were 2,690 cases of sexual abuse involving children. And out of every 100 cases that we deal with, between 10 and 20 percent involve kids from the seminaries,” he told TRT World. Sahil, an NGO, said it recorded 42 cases of sexual abuse or assault that took place within a religious insitution in Pakistan. It collected the information from the crime reported in the newspapers.

Assault at the hands of a cleric hasn’t come as a shock for many. In Europe, North America and Australia, Catholic churches have faced a storm of criticism for trying to hide systematic abuse at the hands of priests.

In Pakistan, generations have grown up hearing stories about a friend, sibling or a cousin who was molested by a religious tutor — even if the recitation classes were taken in their own homes. It’s only recently that cameras in mobile phones have helped capture some of the most heinous violations. With such videos going viral, many more students are coming forward to share their own tales.

But Pakistani courts do not consider videos as admissible evidence, making the job of the police difficult when it comes to building a case, said a senior police official.

“Conviction rate in cases of violence against children is low because the witnesses, in most instances, change their statements. For a long time we have been recommending that it’s time to update our criminal justice system,” he told TRT World.

‘Everyone has to go through it’

Even if a child in a seminary dares to come forward to complain about abuse, he’s very often told to keep his mouth shut and not to discuss it with anyone, said Sabookh Syed, a journalist and researcher, who is at the forefront of reporting on child abuse stories concering clerics. “The clerics twist an Islamic concept to justify this silence. They say you are supposed to cover up other people’s mistakes and if you do that Allah will similarly whitewash your sins.” Over a period spanning 15 years, Syed has investigated multiple instances of abuse in seminaries. He said there’s a deliberate attempt at the top leadership to cover up child molestation and abuse.

“If things go really out of control at a madrassah, do you know what they ask teachers to do? They ask them to fast twice a week. They think fasting helps reduce sexual appetite. If the abuse continues then they ask all the teachers and students to fast!”

One factor that is usually not considered is also that studies have repeatedly shown that rape is not always sexually motivated, but about power, control and violence. Child abuse workers such as Rana Asif said that it’s routine that a teacher or caretaker found to be involved is fired. However, the matter is hushed up and the accused cleric is never prosecuted. “Even though such abuse is a non-compoundable offence, parents of the kids end up compromising with the mosque or seminary administration. That’s why the conviction rate is so low.” The boy who was sodomised by Aziz ur Rehman recorded the video of the act more than a year ago. He had reportedly informed his parents and the seminary administration but was asked not to talk about it. He has been in hiding ever since the video was leaked on Twitter on June 14.

“I personally know of 2 cases where a child was molested inside a seminary. In both cases the kids were forced by the parents to go back to the same seminary. Some parents don’t even recognise child sexual assault as something that’s improper. They say ‘hota he sab ke saath, koi baat nahi’ (it is not a big deal, everyone has to go through it),” said Dr Enam, the pediatrician.

Even in the case of the senior cleric, Aziz ur Rehman, police officers fear that the family of the boy might end up forgiving the cleric.

“This cleric was really confident that he could have negotiated some sort of a deal with the family of the student if he wasn’t arrested and had a bit more time,” Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, a senior police officer who is part of the investigation, told TRT World.

“He even sent a delegation of local elders and clerics (known locally as a jirga) to the student’s parents to request that he be forgiven.” It’s common in parts of Pakistan’s rural areas to reach out-of-court settlements at the behest of influential people in a village or a town. “We are trying our best to make a strong case. But if the victim reaches a compromise then there’s a possibility that Aziz ur Rehman will walk free,” said Janbaz.

A state of disbelief

Madrassahs in Pakistan are charity-run boarding houses, which offer free meals, lodging and education to some of the poorest children who would otherwise end up on the streets.

“Parents think they are sending their kids to a better place. I don’t think any other class of citizens is respected more than the religious scholars in our society,” said Syed, the journalist. The grinding schedule of theological and religious lectures turns even weak and shy students into fearsome debaters — at least on matters of religion. “So when a seminary student goes back to his village and eloquently presents his views and confidently drives forward a narrative, his poor parents and people around him are in awe. Parents are even more thankful to the institution,” said Syed.

Pakistani religious institutions and leaders extend their influence around the world. Scholars such as Maulana Abul A’la Maudidi have left a deep imprint on the Muslim Brotherhood. Missionary movement Tablighi Jamaat’s Maulana Tariq Jameel has millions of followers globally.

This along with a belief that clerics are doing God’s work leave people in a state of disbelief when sexual scandals come to light, said Syed.

“These clerics can be very learned men. But being very smart and knowledgeable doesn’t absolve you from a crime. What we see is that top scholars are not ready to publicly condemn what has happened in this case.”

Aziz ur Rehman is also a senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Pakistan’s largest religious political party headed by influential cleric Maulana Fazal ur Rehman (no relation with Aziz). Aziz ur Rehman’s affiliation with the party was suspended, only after his arrest. Fazal and other religious leaders are facing criticism for not issuing any statements condemning the cleric or willing to accept that abuse occurs in some of the seminaries. Instead, religious scholars see the entire episode as another attempt by the secular class to lobby against them. “People like Aziz ur Rehman must be given a harsher punishment than any other criminal because they represent Islamic schools,” said Maulana Zahid Qasmi, a leading scholar of the Deobandi sect, who is also a member of the board that oversees religious schools in the country. “At the same time, I’d add that this case must be treated as an individual’s act and should not be used to malign madrassahs or Islam,” he told TRT World.

In 2019, Pakistan was roiled by a series of assaults on children in a city called Kasur. Public pressure forced the government to adopt the Zainab Alert, Response and Recovery Act — a law against child abuse named after a young girl who was brutally raped and killed. While laws have been passed and multiple state-run bodies have been setup to counter child abuse, lack of enforcement and resources have not helped in reducing the cases of abuse, child rights activists said. It’s all the more complicated when authorities have to deal with madrassahs.

“The state institutions, which deal with child protection policies, hardly have any reach when it comes to religious schools,” said Afshan Tehseen, Chairperson of National Commission of Rights of Child, a federal body.

This is concerning because “the isolated environment of religious schools makes children even more vulnerable to abuse,” she told TRT World.

Some activists such as Dr Enam and Rana Asif have tried to organise seminars in seminaries on educating kids about abuse and how to avoid it. They are advocating for child protection committees and dedicated officials for hearing complaints in schools and seminaries.

“But many of the madrassahs won’t even let us come near their gate,” said Dr Enam.

China is buying Muslim leaders’ silence on the Uyghurs - Imran Khan’s Axios interview is another example of this worrying trend.

 As the world increasingly speaks out against China’s genocide of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang, the quietest voices continue to belong to the leaders of Muslim-majority countries.

Look no further than Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s interview this week with Axios’s Jonathan Swan. Swan asked why the premier, who often speaks out on Islamophobia in the West, has been noticeably silent on the human rights atrocities happening just across his country’s border. Khan parroted China’s denial that it has placed roughly 2 million Uyghurs in internment camps and then evaded the issue over and over again. “This is not the case, according to them,” Khan said, adding that any disagreements between Pakistan and China are hashed out privately. That’s a jarring statement. Instead of offering a pro forma “Yes, of course we’re concerned by this” before moving on, Khan chose instead to minimize the problem altogether.

Why would Khan do such a thing during a high-profile interview, with his self-enhanced image as a defender of Muslims on the line? The prime minister gave the game away later in the interview: “China has been one of the greatest friends to us in our most difficult times, when we were really struggling,” Khan told Swan. “When our economy was struggling, China came to our rescue.”

China has given Pakistan billions in loans to prop up its economy, allowing the country to improve transit systems and a failing electrical grid, among other things. China didn’t do that out of the goodness of its heart; it did so partly to make Pakistan dependent on China, thus strong-arming it into a closer bilateral relationship.

It’s a play China has run over and over through its “Belt and Road Initiative.” China aims to build a large land-and-sea trading network connecting much of Asia to Europe, Africa, and beyond. To do that, it makes investment and loan deals with nations on that “road” — like Pakistan — so that they form part of the network. The trade, in effect, is that China increases its power and influence while other countries get the economic assistance they need.

That relationship has helped Pakistan avoid economic calamity. But as of right now, it doesn’t have the funds to pay China back. That could spell trouble for Pakistan, as China has a history of taking a nation’s assets when it doesn’t pay its debts, like when it took over a Sri Lankan port in 2018. To avoid a similar fate, and perhaps keep the money flowing, Khan likely didn’t want to badmouth China in public. “China is Pakistan’s only lifeline out of debt,” said Sameer Lalwani, director of the South Asia program at the Stimson Center in Washington, DC. Look elsewhere in the world and the story is essentially the same. Even the leaders of Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey — who often portray themselves as the defenders of Islam and of the ummah, the global Muslim community — are choosing to prioritize their economic relationship with China over standing up for the Uyghurs. In the short term, they may get more funds from the relationship with China, but in the long run, the price they pay is in their reputation.

China is buying Muslim leaders’ silence on the Uyghurs

George Mason University’s Jonathan Hoffman, who studies Middle Eastern politics and geopolitical competition, told me Khan’s statements are in line with the trend of Muslim leaders turning away from China’s gross human rights abuses.

They “represent a broader pattern in the region where the plight of the Uyghurs is sidelined as China has quickly become the largest oil consumer, trade partner, and investor,” he told me.That helps explain some of the actions by Muslim-majority nations and their leaders in recent years, which Hoffman wrote about in May for the Washington Post:In 2019, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt were among 37 countries that signed a letter to the U.N. Human Rights Council praising China’s “contribution to the international human rights cause” — with claims that China restored “safety and security” after facing “terrorism, separatism and extremism” in Xinjiang...

When Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited China in 2019, he declared that “China has the right to take anti‐terrorism and de‐extremism measures to safeguard national security.” And a March 2019 statement by the Saudi‐based Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) praised China for “providing care to its Muslim citizens.”

The most egregious example of how China has bought loyalty, compliance, and silence, though, may be Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

In 2009 — as Chinese authorities cracked down on Uyghurs amid ethnic violence in Xinjiang, and long before there were credible reports of arbitrary imprisonment, torture, and forced labor — the Turkish leader spoke out about what was happening.

“The incidents in China are, simply put, a genocide. There’s no point in interpreting this otherwise,” Erdoğan said.

But now his tune has changed. In January, Turkish police broke up a protest led by local Uyghurs outside China’s consulate in Istanbul, and the government stands accused of extraditing Uyghurs to China in exchange for Covid-19 vaccines.

Why such a shift? You guessed it: Money.

The Turkish economy was in a downturn well before the coronavirus pandemic, but China has come to the rescue. Erdoğan and his team have sought billions from China in recent years, and China became the largest importer of Turkish goods in 2020. Saying anything negative about the Chinese government — especially on the Uyghur issue — could sever the financial lifeline China provides. That said, the pressure from the pro-Uyghur public in Turkey has forced a slight shift in the Erdoğan regime’s rhetoric in recent months. In March, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said his administration has brought up the plight of the Uyghurs in private discussions with Chinese officials.

Still, that falls far short of what the world should expect from Muslim leaders.

He said that there will be an increase in such incidents when the Pakistan policy in Afghan peace process is not correct and some terror organisations are active across the border. I had demanded on the floor of the Assembly that whatever this government is doing covertly and through the backdoor should be brought before the representatives of the people. The government should tell us what its policy is. The Speaker has also accepted our demand and after the budget session the opinion of other parties will also be made known. 

Regarding meeting of President Zardari with Pervez Ilahi, Chairman PPP said that we are very thankful to Pervez Ilahi who visited Zardari Saheb to inquire about his health. We had achieved many successes in government with Pervez Ilahi’s party and when we increased the buying price of wheat, PML-Q not only appreciated it but itself demanded an increase in buying price thus benefitting growers in Punjab as well.

Chairman PPP said that the government has done injustice to the people of Pakistan and the business community by legislating beyond the demands of FATF. This government has made the situation difficult for the business community and common man by such legislations. This legislation was forcibly passed and also could not take Pakistan out of the grey list. The business community was already suffering due to Covid-19 and continues to do so now because of this legislation.
Regarding proposed APC of the opposition, Chairman Bilawal said that he has already spoken to Shahbaz Sharif about the government’s measures for rigging in the elections, the opposition needs to work together against it. We should not allow the government to rig the elections.

Chairman Bilawal said that he is planning to visit entire Punjab soon and people are contacting him from all over Pakistan to join the PPP. He said that our doors are open for everyone who wants to get rid of the failed and unjustified government. He said that Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has been tasked with contacting everyone who has raised Jeay Bhutto slogan even at the time of his grandfather, mother or worked with his father, he is ready to work with them all. There will be an increase in party’s support base and such people are in contact with the party.

 چیئرمین پیپلزپارٹی نے کہا کہ اس حکومت نے ایسی قانون سازی کرکے بزنس کمیونٹی اور عوام کے ساتھ ذیادتی کی جس کا ایف اے ٹی ایف نے نہیں کیا تھا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ حکومت نے اس قانون سازی کے ذریعے تاجروں اور عام شہریوں کی زندگی میں مشکلات پیدا کر دی ہیں۔ ایف اے ٹی ایف کے نام پر زبردستی قانون سازی کی گئی لیکن اس کے باوجود ایف اے ٹی ایف کی گرے لسٹ سے نہ نکل سکا۔ تاجر کمیونٹی کوڈ 19 کی وجہ سے پہلے ہی مشکلات کا شکار تھی اور اب قانون سازی کی وجہ سے مشکلات کا شکار ہے۔ اپوزیشن کی مجوزہ اے پی سی کے بارے میں چیئرمین بلاول نے کہا کہ وہ کافی پہلے شہباز شریف سے اس سلسلے میں بات کر چکے تھے کہ حکومت انتخابات میں دھاندلی کرنے کے لئے اقدامات کرنا چاہتی ہے۔ اپوزیشن کو چاہیے کہ وہ مل کر اس کے خلاف کام کرے۔

In the contemporary world, where peace has merely become a word, issues like global warming, nuclear war, and pandemics are commonly discussed. Overpopulation is a major concern too and if it remains uncontrolled, it can be catastrophic. When population in a certain area starts getting out of control burden on available resources increases too.

Despite of knowing the fact that excess of everything is bad, but if the excess is dealt with wisdom it can prove to be the booster, so is the case with overpopulation. Realising the intensity of the threat, developed nations formulated policies to reduce famine and food shortage for the future, as well as to limit human birth through awareness campaigns on family planning.

On the contrary, overpopulation in Pakistan, has become a real threat hampering socio-economic development. Controlling population for countries like Pakistan has become unmanageable as the state seems more inclined towards resolving issues like infrastructure, health, and education. Apart from external threats Pakistan needs to realise the real threat emerging internally through over population.

According to 2017 consensus statistics, Pakistan jumps a rank higher, from 6th to 5th, in the most populous countries of the world with over 220 million people. Currently, with 2 percent population growth, it is expected to be doubled by 2050. As per Unicef report last year, Pakistan is likely to have 50 million new born in the first 9 months of the COVID-19 outbreak. Ironically, it is only overpopulation which has pushed Pakistan down in the human development index where per capita income of Pakistanis is even lower than Bangladesh. If this remains unchecked, the days are not far when countries like Nepal and Sudan will be doing better than Pakistan in the human development index.

Pakistan’s inept leadership and governance have failed to devise policies and strategies to overcome rising population. With its limited resources and poor governance, uncontrolled population has pushed the country on the verge of economic decline giving rise to poverty, unemployment, and illiteracy. Economists concede with the fact that economic growth is the main driving force behind poverty reduction over the long run. Despite Pakistan is a developing country, but it owns world’s largest labour force and labour markets provide the main transmission channel for the economic growth because the poor depend overwhelmingly on labour income.Rising poverty has made many parents give birth to more children as they want more hands to earn, even it is done through child labour.Additionally, education sector in Pakistan has been the most neglected sector with only 58 percent literacy rate. Being a developing country with poor management of resources, Pakistan is unable to provide quality education to its masses. A country with relatively lower education percentile of its populace will never be able to educate the new entrants; hence, it will result in poverty and unemployment causing burden on the already poverty -stricken economy.

On the other hand, family planning is another problem we as a society face.Being a male dominant society women hardly have a say and the number of children keep increasing.. Thus, such increase in numbers have resulted in scarce resources and job opportunities. The government has clearly failed to build job opportunities through comprehensive processes of industrialization, fostering small scale firms and materializing infrastructural growth.

Having said that,the world’s most populous country China, formulated one child policy. On the other hand it trained its youth technically which changed the game for China, by strengthening its economic power by empowering technical training among masses. Similarly, Pakistan accounts for more than 60 percent of its population under 30; however, it has failed to train its young generation technically as well as provide them with basic education. This has resulted in rapid incline in poverty graph of the country resulting in unemployment and birth of various social evils in the society.

In areas like Thar and other places across the country, children are abject to mal nutrition ending in stunted growth of a child. Rising poverty have made many parents give birth to more children as they want more hands to earn, even it is done through child labour. Begging by children has become a mafia in the country, and is one of the major impacts of overpopulation. Increase in population compels people to save less and consume more. Pakistan is one of the countries with least saving ratio that is obviously from its growing population. It is saddening to note that our current saving rate is 1/3rd of India, 1/2 of Bangladesh and 1/5th of China. Being extremely dependent on foreign savings, running high external account deficits piles up external debt. Furthermore, overpopulation decreases the ratio of capital to labour which leads in decrease of labour productivity and slows down the economic growth that hinders poverty reduction.Rapidly increasing populace requires expanded budgetary assets to preserve the amount and quality of education and health services and their present low levels. Despite being lowest revenue and tax collection, government still seems to be baffled in provision of better public services to its citizens. Literacy rate in Pakistan is at its slowest pace than its neighbouring countries while quality of education being heavily compromised by ghost teachers and government being equally involved as well. Despite the above points, Pakistan has made considerable progress in poverty reduction, despite decelerating economic growth and continuing high population growth.

It is primarily because: first, income distribution remained relatively constant, thereby preventing the impact of increasing inequalities in wealth on poverty. Second, given the economic downturn, there has been continued growth in real per capita income, which has had a damping impact on poverty.But the main point is that the decline in poverty would have been much more dramatic if population growth had been higher and economic growth stronger.

Notwithstanding this substantial reduction, poverty in Pakistan has remained high. High poverty rates are undermining the very root of social structure in the world. With proven links to increased crime, social disagreement and inter-class and inter regional friction, our high population growth and poverty pose as much, if not greater, threat to the country as any external threat.

Many of the problems being faced by the country today are directly related to high population growth rates, and any further neglect of this topic will speedily exacerbate these problems. The time has come to act and dismantle population growth, starting with the obvious aim of increasing population growth.

امید واثق ہے کہ آپ ساتھ خیریت کے ہوں گے ۔ اللہ ہمیشہ خیر ہی رکھے مگر حضور میں نے آج آپ سے کچھ باتیں پوچھنی ہیں۔ آپ ماشا اللہ سے وزیراعظم بننے سے پہلے ہی عالمی دنیا میں ایک جانی مانی ہستی تھے۔ ایک مشہور کرکٹر ہونے کے ساتھ ساتھ آپ کے سکینڈلز اور آپ کی چھوٹی چھوٹی نیکر پہنے دنیا کے مشہور ساحلوں پہ مختصر لباس پہنے خواتین کے ساتھ تصاویر بھی بہت مشہور تھیں۔ تعلیم بھی آپ نے آکسفورڈ جیسے ادارے میں حاصل کی۔ یقین مانیں جب سے آپ پی ایم بنے ہیں آکسفورڈ یونیورسٹی سے بھی اعتبار ہی اٹھ گیا ہے۔ وجہ میں نہیں بتاؤں گی۔ تکا لگا لیں۔

کبھی کبھار میں فرصت میں اپنے چنیدہ گناہوں کی لسٹ مرتب کرتی ہوں تو اس میں سرفہرست آپ کی پارٹی کو سپورٹ کرنا اور پھر اپنی زندگی کا پہلا ووٹ دینا آتا ہے۔ یہ واحد گناہ ہے جس پہ میں خود کو معاف نہیں کر پاتی۔ معذرت خواہ ہوں مگر سچ کہنے کی عادت پڑ چکی ہے۔ ہم تو سمجھتے تھے کہ آپ ایک ماڈریٹ انسان ہوں گے پاکستان کو تبدیلی کی ضرورت ہے۔ مگر ہم نہیں جانتے تھے کہ تبدیلی کا سفر ہمیں پتھر کے دور میں لے کر جانے کے لیے ہے۔ پہلے والے چور تھے ڈاکو تھے مان لیا سر مگر کبھی ان کے منہ سے یہ نہ سنا کہ عورت کا لباس اس کے ریپ کی وجہ بنتا ہے۔

جناب من ہونا تو یہ چاہیے تھا کہ پچھلے ہفتے میں لڑکوں کے ساتھ زیادتی کے ہوئے واقعات پہ آپ کی جانب سے مذمت آتی۔ آپ مدارس کو ریگولرائز کرنے کی بات کرتے۔ آپ الٹا عورتوں پہ لٹھ لے کر آ گئے۔ مدرسے میں مفتی عزیز الرحمن کی جانب سے طالبعلم کے ساتھ ہوئی ہراسمنٹ و جنسی زیادتی پہ آپ کے غم غصے کے اظہار کا انتظار کرتے کرتے میرے سر میں تو دو سفید بال نکل آئے۔ مگر آپ کو غصہ نہ آیا۔ اسلامی یونیورسٹی میں طالبعلم کے ساتھ گینگ ریپ پہ بھی آپ نے کچھ نہ سوچا، چپ رہے۔ شاید آپ کو ان دو لڑکوں کے ساتھ ریپ میں بھی عورت ہی ملوث نظر آئی۔ ہو سکتا ہے مفتی صاحب نے کسی عورت کو مختصر لباس میں دیکھ لیا ہو۔ اب شہوت پہ کس کا زور ہے کسی پہ تو نکلنی تھی۔ بے چارے طالبعلم پہ نکل گئی ہر چند کے اس کے تو کپڑے بھی مختصر نہ تھے۔

دنیا بھر میں ریپ کے واقعات کے سائیکالوجیکل تجزیوں کے مطابق ریپ کرنے والا وکٹم کے کپڑوں کی وجہ سے ریپ نہیں کرتا بلکہ اپنی طاقت کا مظاہرہ کرنا چاہتا ہے۔ ایک ریپیسٹ وکٹم کی بے بسی اور کمزوری سے خود کو مطمئن کرتا ہے۔ سر کیا آپ نے سندھ کنارے اندھی ڈولفن کے ساتھ ریپ کی خبریں کبھی غور سے پڑھی یا سنی ہیں؟ اب بچاری اندھی ڈولفن کی جانے بلا کہ کپڑے کیا ہوتے ہیں کجا کہ وہ مختصر و مکمل لباس کی تشریح سے واقف ہو۔

قصور کی سات سالہ زینب نے کیسے ریپیسٹ کو اکسایا ہو گا؟ ابھی کچھ عرصہ پہلے موٹروے پہ تین بچوں کے سامنے ماں سے زیادتی ہو گئی۔ اس نے کیا غلطی کی تھی۔ اور تو اور گھر میں گھس کے بچوں کے سامنے ماں کی آبروریزی کی گئی۔ جس ملک میں گھر کے اندر عورت محفوظ نہیں۔ اسے باہر کیسے تحفظ مل سکتا ہے۔ سوچنے کی بات ہے۔ کچھ دن پہلے ہی خبر پڑھی کہ قبر سے ایک دن کی دفنائی لڑکی کو نکال کے ریپ کر دیا گیا۔ اب ان عورتوں کے متعلق کیا کہیں گے آپ جو مر چکی ہیں۔ کیا ان کو لوہے کے کپڑے پہنا کے دفن کیا جائے۔ یا ان کی قبروں کو جنگلے لگا کے ویلڈ کروایا جائے۔ کیونکہ تالے توڑنا کون سا مشکل ہے ان کے لیے جنہوں نے ریپ کا ذہن بنا لیا ہو۔

مائی ڈئیر پرائم منسٹر صاحب! آپ از رہ مہربانی وکٹم بلیمنگ کرنا چھوڑ دیں۔ ریپیسٹ کی غلطی کو وکٹم کے کھاتے میں مت ڈالیں۔ یہ معاشرہ پہلے ہی بہت تنگ نظر ہے۔ خاص طور پہ عورتوں کے معاملے میں۔ اسے مزید تنگ نظر مت بنائیں۔ آپ ملک کے وزیراعظم ہیں خدارا بولنے سے پہلے سوچا کریں۔ آپ کے اس بیان سے کتنے پوٹینشل ریپیسٹ کو شہ مل سکتی ہے کیا آپ نے کبھی اس بات کا اندازہ لگایا ہے؟ وزیراعظم کی کرسی جھولے لینے کے لیے نہیں ہوتی۔ اس کرسی پہ بیٹھنے والے انسان کو اتنا عقل مند ہونا چاہیے کہ وہ اس طرح کی بات نہ کرے جس سے معاشرے میں انتشار پھیلنے کا خدشہ ہو۔

مجھے تو کچھ سوالات ان سے بھی کرنے تھے جن کے بقول ان کے دیس کی بیٹیوں کی بے حیائی سے عذاب اتر رہے تھے۔ اب ان کے دیس کے بیٹوں کی عزت ان کے اپنے ساتھی تار تار کر رہے ہیں اس پہ ان کی زبان خاموش ہے۔ ہم نے تو پڑھا ہے کہ عذاب اترے ہی لواطت جیسے اعمال کی وجہ سے تھے۔ ان زمانوں میں تو نہ جینز تھی نہ کپڑوں کے چھوٹے بڑے ہونے کا مسئلہ تھا۔ جن کو اشتہاروں میں لڑکیوں کے کھیلنے میں شہوت نظر آ جاتی تھی، وہ بھی مفتی کے عمل پہ چپ ہیں۔ کیا لڑکوں کے ساتھ زیادتی پہ بات کرتے ان کے پر جلتے ہیں۔ ؟

گزارش یہ ہے جناب کہ اپنی سوچ کو وسیع کریں۔ مرد و عورت کو ایک دوسرے کے لیے ہوا مت بنائیں۔ اپنے تعلیمی نصاب کو اپ گریڈ کریں۔ بچوں کو وہ پڑھائیں جو انہیں دنیا میں جینے کے قابل بنائے۔ سکولوں میں بچوں کو گڈ بیڈ ٹچ کی تعلیم دیں۔ اور پلیز اب گڈ بیڈ ٹچ ایجوکیٹ کرنے کو سیکس ایجوکیشن دینا مت سمجھ لیجئیے گا۔ حتی کہ بچوں کو ان کی عمر کے بڑھنے کے ساتھ ساتھ سیکس ایجوکیشن دینا بھی لازمی ہونا چاہیے۔ جی اب آپ اس بات پہ مجھے بے حیا کہنے میں حق بجانب ہو گئے ہیں کیونکہ میں نے لفظ سیکس لکھ دیا ہے۔

عورتیں اس ملک کی آبادی کا باون فیصد ہیں۔ ان کے لیے تعلیم، تحفظ، روزگار کے مواقع اور آزادی کو یقینی بنائیں۔ روز روز کے ان عورت مخالف بیانات سے آپ کا رہا سہا امپریشن بھی ختم ہو جانا ہے ان کی نظر میں جن کی نظر میں آپ تبدیلی لانے آئے تھے۔ بے چارے پہلے ہی شرمندہ شرمندہ پھرتے ہیں۔ آخری بات یہ کہ ان باتوں پہ غصہ مت کیجئیے گا کیونکہ غصہ صحت کے لیے نقصان دہ ہوتا ہے۔ اور عقل کا دشمن ہوتا ہے بشرطیکہ عقل ہو۔

 پاکستان پیپلزپارٹی کے چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو زرداری نے عمران خان کی جانب سے غیرملکی میڈیا کو دئیے گئے انٹرویو میں خواتین سے متعلق بیان کو افسوسناک قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ ہمیں مظلوم کا ساتھ دینا چاہیے نہ کہ ظالم کا۔ پارلیمنٹ ہاﺅس اسلام آباد میں صحافیوں سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہا کہ عمران خان ایک ایسے مقام پر بیٹھا ہے جہاں اسے اس بات کی احتیاط کرنی چاہیے کہ وہ کیا کہہ رہا ہے۔ اگر وہ اس قسم کی بات کرے گا تو یہ پیغام جائے گا کہ ناانصافی کے شکار افراد ہی کی غلطی تھی کہ ان کے ساتھ زیادتی ہوئی کیونکہ وہ جرم کرنے والے کے لئے بہانہ تلاش کر رہے ہیں۔ 

انہوں نے کہا کہ ریپ کا کپڑوں سے کوئی تعلق نہیں ہے۔ ہمیں اپنی زبان اور معاشرے پر نظرثانی کرنی چاہیے اور مظلوم لوگوں کا ساتھ دینا چاہیے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ عمران خان نے ہر ادارہ تباہ کر دیا ہے۔ اسامہ بن لادن کے متعلق ایک سوال کا جواب دیتے ہوئے انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ حکومت بزدل ہے اور عمران خان تو ہمیشہ سے ہی بزدل ہے کیونکہ کبھی انہوں نے دہشتگرد کو دہشتگرد نہیں کہا یہاں تک کہ جب اے پی ایس نے ہمارے بچوں کو بیدردی سے قتل کیا گیا تو اس نے اس وقت بھی بیت اللہ محسود کو دہشتگرد قرار دینے سے انکار کیا۔ اسامہ بن لادن دنیا بھر میں ایک دہشتگرد کی حیثیت سے جانا جاتا ہے۔ اس نے 1993ءمیں رمزی یوسف کے ذریعے اس وقت کی وزیراعظم پر حملہ کرنا چاہا، 1994ءمیں دہشتگردوں نے پاکستان میں انقلاب لانے کی کوشش کی۔ کیا عمران خان کو پتہ ہے کہ اسامہ بن لادن نے پوری دنیا کو دہشتگردی کا شکار کر دیا ؟ کیا اسے نہیں پتہ کہ شہید محترمہ بینظیر بھٹو کے قتل میں بھی اس کا ہاتھ تھا؟ اگر اسامہ بن لادن دہشتگرد نہیں ہے تو پھر دہشتگرد کون ہے؟ اسامہ بن لادن نے دنیا بھر میں اسلام کو بدنام کیا۔ ہر پاکستانی اور مسلمان کی یہ ذمہ داری ہے کہ اسامہ بن لادن کو دہشتگرد کہے اور وہ اسلام کی نمائندگی نہیں کرتا۔ 

اسلام ایک پرامن مذہب ہے، ہم ایک دوسرے سے ملتے ہیں تو سلامتی کی دعا دیتے ہیں۔ عمران خان کو اپنی پالیسی پر نظرثانی کرنا پڑے گی۔ اگر ہمارا وزیر خارجہ بین الاقوامی فورمز پر اسامہ بن لادن کے متعلق بات نہیں کر سکتا تو اس سے پاکستانی خارجہ پالیسی پر برا اثر پڑے گا۔ اس وقت ساری دنیا کی نظریں افغانستان کی صورتحال پر ہیں اور ہمارے دشمن چاہتے ہیں کہ ہمیں الزام دیں لیکن ہمارا وزیراعظم اسمبلی کے فلور پر اسامہ بن لادن کو شہید کہتا ہے۔ ہمارا وزیر خارجہ دہشتگردوں کو دعوت دیتا ہے کہ وہ ہمارے نظام پر حملہ کریں۔ یہ بات ہماری ریاستی ناکامی ہے۔ عمران خان اور شاہ محمود قریشی قوم اور دہشتگردی کا شکار ہونے والے لوگوں سے معافی مانگیں۔

 کشمیر کے انتخابات کے متعلق چیئرمین بلاول بھٹو نے کہا کہ وہ بہت جلد کشمیر جا کر انتخابی مہم کی قیادت کریں گے اور کشمیر کی صورتحال بہت حوصلہ افزا ہے۔ پی پی پی وہ واحد پارٹی جس پر کشمیری اعتبار کرتے ہیں۔ وزیراعظم عمران خان کو کشمیر یا نیوکلیئرپروگرام کے متعلق کوئی علم نہیں۔ نیوکلیئر پروگرام کے خالق ذوالفقار علی بھٹو تھے جو کہتے تھے کہ ان سے نیند میں کشمیر کے بارے کوئی غلطی نہیں ہو سکتی۔ جب مودی نے کشمیر پر حال ہی میں حملہ کیا تو ہمارے وزیراعظم نے کہا کہ اس نے پہلے ہی کہہ دیا تھا کہ انتخابات میں مودی کی جیت سے مسئلہ کشمیر حل ہو جائے گا۔ عمران خان ملک کے لئے سکیورتی رسک بن چکے ہیں۔ اب سہولت کاروں کو بھی اس بات کا ادراک کر لینا چاہیے کہ خان صاحب سکیورٹی رسک ہیں اور انہیں جانا ہوگا۔
