#Pakistan - #Hangu: #Sikh community accuse Asst. Commissioner for pressurizing them into forced conversion

Sikh community residing in Doaba area of district Hangu has claimed that Assistant Commissioner of Thal is pressurizing them to convert to Muslims.
Sources said that the Muslim and Sikh community in Hangu, worried out the anti-encroachment operation taking place in Doaba Bazaar, came to Assistant Commissioner Thall’s office and pleaded him to delay it.
The Sikh community claimed that the assistant commissioner did not hear a single thing they had to say and did not behave appropriately with them. They added, “Afterwards, he also called us non-Muslims and would not help us until they convert to Islam”.
The Sikh community raised the matter with Deputy Commissioner Shahid Mehmood who assured them that the matter will be investigated and truth will be brought forward.
In an exclusive interview with Samaa TV’s website, Mehmood said that that he is bound as a citizen to make sure that injustice is not taking place against any citizen of the country despite which race, colour, caste or religion he is affiliated with.
Mehmood, commenting on the complaint filed by the Sikh community, said that the matter is under investigation. “When we sought a reply from the assistant commission, he denied of speaking such a thing.”
“The assistant commissioner said that he apologizes to the community if they feel that he has hurt their sentiments,” Mehmood added.
The Sikh community, on Friday evening, staged a protest against the situation.
A member of the Sikh community, speaking with Samaa TV, said that they are being pressurized to change their religion. “However, the deputy commissioner has assured them that the issue will be resolved on priority basis.”
