PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari says violence and terrorism are the biggest threat to world peace.
In his message on the occasion of International Day of Peace, he said only peace on earth guarantees people’s growth and progress. The world will have to fight injustices, discrimination and oppression, he added.
Mr Bhutto-Zardari said the international community will also have to raise voice for the poor, underprivileged and helpless segments of society and promote democracy in under-developed countries and social equality as well as transparency in different societies.
It is our collective duty to protect human rights, he stressed, highlighting Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
The PPP leader said his mother Benazir Bhutto too sacrificed her life in war on terror, besides people and personnel of the security forces.
International Day of Peace is being observed today with an aim to strengthen the ideals of peace within and among the nations.
This year’s theme for the day is “The Right to Peace – The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70”.
The theme celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
