The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has condemned Chairman PTI Imran Khan’s recent remarks against the Charter of Democracy (CoD). “A man who has no idea what the word democracy means would not know the importance of CoD to Pakistan’s democratic process,” said said Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Spokesman to Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari. He said it also shows how insecure Mr Khan is feeling right now after seeing the success of Chairman Bilawal’s election campaign. “Those who only have a sea of empty chairs in their jalsas wouldn’t know what a sea of people welcoming their leader means. Chairman PPP has been welcomed by hundreds of thousands of people everywhere he went.”
Senator Khokhar said that a man who cannot get into power without the help of an ‘umpire’ and faceless angels has no love or respect for real democracy. “We can answer Khan in the same language that he uses for his opponents but the PPP believes in giving respect to its detractors.”
Senator Khokhar added that at a time when the entire world media is talking about another IJI-in-the-making, Mr Khan is more interested in taking digs at the Charter of Democracy rather than doing something to restore the credibility of the coming elections. “Mr Khan is willing to sacrifice democracy at the altar of his own ego.”
