Pakistan - KIDNAPPING OF NASIR SHIRAZI DECIDED AT A HIGH-LEVEL MEETING OF PUNJAB GOVT'S BIGWIGS

The conspiracy for government-sponsored kidnapping of MWM’s deputy secretary general Nasir Shirazi was finalised at a high-level meeting of the Punjab government’s influential heavyweights including Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.

Sources disclosed that a high-level meeting was held in Lahore where Shahbaz, his son Hamza Shahbaz, Rana Sana, former IG Police Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera and others hatched the conspiracy against Shia party Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen leadership over their alliance and support to Sunni scholar Dr Tahirul Qadri and his party Pakistan Awami Tehreek.
Punjab Chief Minister and Law Minister are scared of the Justice Baqir Najafi report of inquiry into Lahore Model Town Tragedy in which supporters of Qadri were murdered by police on the orders of higher authorities of the government. Shahbaz and Rana Sana were blamed for the Lahore Model Town massacre. The petition filed by Nasir Shirazi, deputy secretary general, MWM, also posed a threat to the future of Rana Sanaullah because Shirazi had sought his disqualification.
Hence, they tried to kill two birds with one stone by ordering kidnapping of Nasir Shirazi because he was petitioner against Rana Sanaullah and remained in close touch with all the political parties. Police officer Rai Tahir was assigned to oversee the kidnapping.
However, MWM leadership and their supporters are defeating their plot by using legal rights and democratic rights to deal with the situation. Shirazi’s kidnapping has evoked countrywide protest against the Punjab government and security agencies run under them.
