He will highlight the issues of terrorism, sustainable democracy, human rights, extremism, women empowerment, minority rights, equality and others during his deliberations in the United States.
According to the schedule, Bilawal will hold meeting with David Beasley, former governor South Carolina, and attend luncheon and dinner with the parliamentarians in Washington. The PPP chairman will also attend the national prayer breakfast, and hold meetings with Grace Nelson, wife of Senator Bill Nelson, Florida and Senator Roger Wicker from Mississippi and International Women’s Tea in Washington DC. He has also been invited to dinner hosted by Ambassador Ray and Shaista Mahmood in Virginia.
Bilawal will also address the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). USIP works to prevent, mitigate and resolve violent conflict around the world. It was created by the Congress in 1984 as an independent, nonpartisan and federally-funded organisation. A meeting with Doug Coe and another dinner with American Community has also been arranged by Ambassador Ray and Shaista Mahmood. A meet and greet reception is hosted by PPP leader and former Senator Akbar Khawaja.
He will attend a meeting of special representatives for Afghanistan and Pakistan at the State Department, coordinated by the Embassy of Pakistan, Washington DC.
The Foreign Policy Institute (FPI) of The Johns Hopkins University’s Paul H Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) will host a talk by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at its venue. The talk will be coordinated by Shirin R Tahir Kheli, a Pakistani-American political scientist and an ambassador.
BILAWAL VISITS SSU SINDH HEADQUARTERS
Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday said establishment of Police Emergency Response Centre 911 should be completed on war footing. He was visiting the SSU headquarter along with Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal and Sindh IGP Ghulam Haider Jamali, said a statement.
He visited various sections of the SSU headquarter and met with the officers, commandos and inquired about the professional training with regards to crackdown the activities of militants and criminals. Bilawal inaugurated the Benazir Bhutto Conference and Intelligence Centre setup at SSU. He said the establishment of intelligence centre in the SSU will play a pivotal role to destroy the network of the terrorists and the criminals. He reviewed the plan of security vision 2020 and directed that promise of peace should be completed without any delay to ensure protection of lives and properties of masses.
AIGP Security Maqsood Ahmed briefed about the working of officers and Commandos with regard to providing professional training to them. He further informed that a first-ever SWAT team in Pakistan has been setup at SSU by the Sindh Police. He informed that under a special programme, SSU is providing training to teachers and students of educational institutions so that they could tackle the hostile environment situation, if arises in their institutions.
Bilawal appreciated the standard of the officers and the Commandos being in line with ISO certification which was issued to SSU from an international organisation, United Kingdom Accreditation System, Britain for maintaining international standard in the field of counter terrorism operations and provision of foolproof security to vital installations and important personalities.
Bilawal said the government was utilising all possible resources to ensure peace and tranquility in Sindh so that effective crack down could be ensured against the terrorists and criminals.
He also inquired from the officers and the commandos with regards to professional capabilities to foil the nefarious designs of the terrorists and appreciated their efforts to eliminate the scourge of terrorism. He met the injured commandos of SSU and also paid tribute to commandos who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
