Pakistan - PMLN’s Fed Govt has not added a single utility stores; plans for selling

Utility Stores Corporation (USC) once was a public-serving national institution from where the lower and middle class of people used to buy groceries and essential commodities at cheaper rates. However, the federal government of the PMLN has also planned to make this utility an obsolete item through making prices of common man’s goods expensive and offering low quality and sub-standard grocery items such as pulses, grains, oils and flour.

In a statement issued from the PPP Media Cell Sindh, PPP Karachi Division President Syed Najmi Alam and General secretary Nadeem Bhutto said that the PMLN’s federal government has taken steps to sell around 68 national institutions and many of them are yielding sound profit.

They said that the federal government of the PMLN has while it is completing its third year in government could not add at least one more utility store to the existing numbers, which is a sound indication that the USC is in close sight for sale to blue eyed investors.

They appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take Suo Motto notice on the conspiracy behind winding up the nationwide network of the utility stores in Pakistan.
