Pakistan - FARHATULLAH BABAR DEMANDS JUDICIAL PROBE INTO APS, CHARSADDA ATTACKS, CRITICISES CH. NISAR’S SILENCE

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Senator Farhatullah Babar said on Saturday that judicial inquiry should be conducted into the Bacha Khan University and Army Public School attacks. Talking to The News here, he demanded that the findings of the inquiry should be made public.
He also questioned the reported silence of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan after the attack on the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda.
He came to Mardan to offer condolences to PPP provincial president Khanzada Khan on the death of his brother.
Senator Farhatullah Babar, who is spokesperson for PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, added that the interior minister had failed to deliver. “The National Action Plan (NAP) couldn’t be implemented in letter and spirit as the banned militant organisations were operating with new names,” he maintained.
He added it was compulsory that the meeting of the board of governors of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) should be convened after every three months. However, he said the government didn’t hold its meeting even after one year.
Senator Farhatullah Babar said the interior minister claimed on the floor of the National Assembly that no first information report (FIR) was registered against Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz, but later it transpired that a case was filed against him at the Aabpara Police Station in Islamabad.
He argued that terrorism was the main issue of the country. “The government should take action against those claiming responsibility for terror attacks,” he stressed.
The PPP Senator said the government was utilising national resources on Orange train and Metro bus projects without considering our requirements. He added the government should accord priority to the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project.
Farhatullah Babar claimed the Planning Commission had made the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project controversial. He maintained that Rs20 billion were allocated for the western route in the Public Sector Development Programme while an allocation of Rs80 billion was made for the eastern route and this created doubts in the minds of the people about the mega project.
