Christians of Pakistan have yet again become the target of uncalled for violence. Armed men opened fire on a missionary institute, St. Franciscan High School in Bahar colony Lahore today. Panic revolved in the school as gunmen fired. Investigations are still underway and there have been reports of a bike robbery that caused this misunderstanding.
Unidentified gunmen began firing and as the guards on duty outside the school intercepted, they were caught in the firing and injured . School pupils have been directed to leave the premises. Reason behind the firing incident is still unclear and investigation is still in process.
Bahar Colony is the second largest Christian residential area in Lahore which is the second largest city of Pakistan. This firing comes a month after two churches were attacked by suicide bombers in Youhanabad, the largest Christian locality in Lahore.
In the church attacks young Akash Bashir who was on duty as a voluntary security guard outside the church, had lost his life in attempts to stop the bomber from entering the church. 21 people lost their lives in these attacks. Innocent Christians always fall prey to this vengeance
Two days ago Nouman Masih a young Christian boy lost the battle of life in Mayo Hospital. He had been set on fire by unknown men in a revenge attack for the public lunching of two men in Youhanabad after the blasts.
The Christian minority in Pakistan continues to be marginalized and life has become an ordeal for them. Attacks on schools and churches show the status of national security in the city and the level of government protection provided to Christians in Pakistan.
