Pakistan - Mob storms Lahore vigil held in memory of slain governor Salmaan Taseer

A mob armed with sticks stormed a candlelight vigil held by members of the civil society and journalists in memory of slain Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer at Lahore’s Liberty Roundabout on Sunday evening.
Reportedly, no one was seriously hurt and the police controlled the situation after arriving at the scene. The vigil resumed again afterwards.
The mob comprising unidentified men was carrying sticks and bricks in their hands and they beat up some of the vigil attendees including women, children and elders before police forced them to flee the scene.
The vigil was held to mark 4th death anniversary of former governor Punjab Salman Taseer who was killed by his own security guard Mumtaz Qadri after accusing him of blasphemy.
Taseer was vocal against abuse of country’s blasphemy laws.
