Pakistan: PPP submits notice on Ebola virus

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Tuesday submitted a calling-attention notice in the National Assembly regarding emergence of Ebola virus in Pakistan. “We invite the attention of the Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination to a matter of urgent public importance regarding emergence of Ebola virus in Pakistan,” the notice quoted a PPP lawmaker as saying. The notice further read, “It is a matter of grave concern as the World Health Organisation (WHO) already warned that Pakistan is on high risk of having Ebola virus disease if necessary steps are not taken on emergency basis.” “So we strongly urge the government to take precautionary measures against the Ebola virus by establishing isolation wards to quarantine Ebola patients, have Ebola screening desks at airports and railway stations,” it added.
