Pakistan: Karachiites to celebrate Nobel Prize conferrment upon Malala

An impressive programme to celebrate conferment of Nobel Prize upon Malala Yousufzai will be hosted by different civil society organisations of Karachi in December.
A joint meeting of these organisations held here Thursday under the chairmanship of senior activist Anis Haroon discussed in detail about arrangements to be made on the occasion.
The meeting on the occasion also decided to pay tribute to the first Nobel Prize winner of the country, Dr Abdus Salam in a befitting manner with his different photographs on display and his contribution towards promotion of education, science and technology in the country adequately highlighted.
Prominent personalities including senior journalists, educationists and scientists would be invited to highlight Dr Abdus Salam’s contribution to the country as well to the world.
Meanwhile, as per schedule, the programme titled as “Jashn e Malala”, will mark its beginning with a performance,” Responsibility,” by Sheema Kirmani.
Keynote speakers of the programme will be Parvez Hoodbhoy, Arif Hassan and Zubeida Mustafa.
Prominent literary figures including Amar Sindhu and Zahida Hina will make their respective presentations on Historical Perspective: Impact of Extremism on Women’s Rights and Recognition of Conflicts on social, cultural changes that have taken place.
Fehmida Riaz and Anis Haroon would recite their poems highlighting courage and confidence of Malala.
Moreover, a gallery of photographs would also be set-up on the occasion with pictures of Pakistani women, on display, who in their respective capacities and in different era played prominent roles for women empowerment and national development.
