Pakistan - ''HYPOCRITE'' Leaders - Imran follows VIP culture norms for CNIC renewal
“After coming to power Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would eliminate VIP culture from the country. There is a need to eradicate the VIP culture, which is stifling the nation. PTI will eliminate VIP culture, arrogant display of wealth and authority.”
The aforementioned are excerpts from the speeches of Imran Khan, chief of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf. The boisterous outbursts from the PTI chief Imran Khan against the VIP culture appear to lead all the search engines if one is to revisit the recent past in the cyber world but whether he really practices what he propagates with vocally open mouth is just another story altogether!
It really gets hard for a common Pakistani to make a choice out of the two different factions of the same phenomenon particularly when the anti-status quo forces who never sound vary of preaching austerity for all are caught practicing the prevalent highhanded norms that serve the interests of nobody but the VIPs.
A NADRA van ‘rushed’ to the PTI chief’s hilltop bungalow in Banigala to process his identity card renewed after the expiry of the previous one. Khan simply afforded this luxury against the payment of ordinary fee.
Interestingly, this exercise was done citing the ages old excuse of ‘security problems’ that saw the extension of the same facility to our very own President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, each of whom availed this ‘golden’ service last year.
Will Khan, who now and then predicts about a ‘new Pakistan’ where there will be no differentiation between the ordinary Pakistanis and the influential elite, be able to achieve any such things, when came to power, in the presence of such ‘personal flaws’ associated with every influential Pakistani and especially the ruling elite.
Chairman NADRA, Tariq Malik while taking to TheNation confirmed the news, adding the service is primarily for handicapped people who cannot visit the NADRA offices. However, our ruling elites, who develop some ‘VIP disabilities’ out of their royally elite nature, also avail this service, and Imran Khan joined this prestigiously elite club reportedly on the last month’s 14.
Malik said rules were not being violated, as every Pakistani after citing some specific reasons could avail this facility, so did Imran Khan.
Another top official of NADRA wishing not to be named said the Authority had received a formal written request in this regard from PTI Chairman. He (Imran) had requested for processing his national identity card at his residence, the official said, adding, “It was a general request, without citing any security concerns.”
When asked about the criterion to avail such facility, the official said, the facility was primarily for the people with disabilities, imprisoned or hospitalised persons and all those who could not visit NADRA center for some obvious reason.
When asked about the ‘obvious reason’ stated by the PTI Chairman to avail this facility, the official recalling his memory said, “Through that letter, NADRA was informed that Imran Khan is the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, not an ordinary person....”
A common man stops to ask, is there any difference, when it comes to VIP culture, between our very own ‘captain’ and respectable President, who according to Khan, is the ‘biggest thief of this country’ and his government and ally parties promoters of VIP culture.
No doubt, that practice of Imran Khan was not against the spirit of rules and regulations of NADRA. But when it comes to the Captain, his voters and supporters specifically and ordinary Pakistanis in general demand something “awami” rather the decades old and traditional way of action.
PTI Shafqat Mehmood was tried to contact but he was not available for his comments over the issue.
