PPP warns against witch hunting and sacking of workers

Pakistan Peoples Party will not permit political witch hunting and victimization nor will it allow the throwing out of jobs of the hundreds of workers it had appointed on merit during the coalition government tenure 2008-13.
This has been stated by spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar reacting to two media reports today. According to one report the FIA has declared both the former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani and former Federal Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim as absconders in a case involving trade subsidies. The other report was about the government chasing thousands of workers employed during the PPP government and seeking to throw them out of jobs.
The Spokesperson said that trade policy and decisions about subsidies under it are not taken by individuals but are taken collectively by the cabinet and singling out former Prime Minster or a former Minister is nothing but political with hunting.
He said that the former Prime Minister Mr. Gillani has already stated that he will appear before the court in Islamabad on June 4 and the ATC in Karachi in the TDAP case. The PPP leaders have always faced the courts and are not deterred from doing so he said, but will not permit calculated victimization and victimization of its leaders and workers.
He recalled that over fifteen years ago similar false allegations were leveled against the PPP leadership for allowing import of cheap tractors in the country for the benefit of the poor farmers.
About the move to sack employees the Spokesperson said that the Party is proud of its record of giving jobs to the poor people and will resist every effort aimed at throwing out of employment wage earners in the name of downsizing, golden hand shake or false imputations of irregularities in giving jobs.
