Afghanistan: Neighboring Countries Should Respect Refugee’s Humanitarian Rights

The oppressed people of Afghanistan after witnessing three consecutive decades of imposed war and civil instabilities resorted to averse migrations to fulfill their daily expenditures and still this human tragedy is impacting the war-battered country while hundreds of these migrants had been victim of pathetic incidents in oceans and jungles and detention centers of foreign countries. These inhuman acts are still faced by the Afghan refugees in various Asian, European and neighboring countries which finally followed grievance of civil society and government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and currently they are trying to convince the host countries to pursue humanitarian approach towards these refugees while Afghanistan itself is not in a position to provide employment to them after witnessing years of war and violence. So the host nations should honor their commitments with respect to international laws on migrations and bilateral agreements between Afghanistan and the host countries. Based on Afghanistan’s foreign affairs ministry report, currently, more than one million Afghan refugees have been registered as legal migrants in Iran and they have gotten the rights to work and education and to utilize from social services in that country. Foreign affairs ministry also reported that the second phase of registration would be triggered after the holy month of Ramadan and both countries have expressed satisfaction over the contract which could boost relations between people and governments of the two brotherly nations. It hoped that our foreign affairs and returnees ministries to pursue consultation with the Iranian side to seek solutions for the ongoing refugee problems through negotiations and diplomacy and to resolve legal procedures of the refugees committing any crime in Iran. We hope that the governments of Afghanistan seriously follow these cases to eliminate humiliation and discriminations against nationals of Afghanistan in foreign countries as our oppressed people have seen major threats and crises during the 30 years of wars.
