Education termed only way to meet challenges
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has said that spreading light of education is the only solution to current challenges.
Talking to the members of literary society of Bacha Khan Medical College (BMC), Mardan at Chief Minster’s House here on Monday, he said that besides setting up a cadet college and university in Swat, the government established 40 colleges in the province.
He said that hundreds of primary, middle and high schools were also upgraded while a cadet college in Lakki Marwat and a university in Charsadda would be established soon.
BMC Principal Dr Ziaul Islam also accompanied the members of literary society including Shahi Faris, Javed, Nauman Ali, Shafiq and Zainab Ibad.
The chief minister said that sub-campuses of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan were established in Charsadda, Nowshera, Sawabi, Buner, Dir and Chitral within three years.
He said that two important programmes — Stori Da Pakhtunkhwa and Rokhana Pakhtunkhwa — were initiated by the government to encourage intelligent students and extend educational facilities to every area.
Mr Hoti said that government would bear educational expenses of those children, who were enrolled at private schools owing to lack of government schools in their areas.
“Monthly scholarships are being offered to top 10 position holders in Matric and F.A/F.SC examinations of all educational boards in the province,” he added.
The chief minister said that current situation of Swat was quite different from that of few years ago. Although government launched efforts for restoration of peace in Swat, yet the credit for establishing peace went to people, he added. He said that it was not possible to get rights of the province and provincial autonomy without the support of people.
He said that keeping in view the performance of BMC, it could be predicted that the institute would be soon among the best medical colleges of the country.
