Afghan guard kills 2 NATO troops

An Afghan security guard shot and killed two NATO soldiers in southern Afghanistan, the International Security Assistance Force said in a release Saturday.

The brief ISAF statement didn't identify the nationalities of the slain soldiers, saying their native country or countries would release details.

The majority of NATO troops in southern Afghanistan are from Australia, Britain, Canada and the United States.

There have been four other incidents of violence against coalition troops in the past nine months, the U.S. military's Stars and Stripes newspaper said.

Most recently, six U.S. troops were gunned down in eastern Afghanistan by an Afghan border police officer on Nov. 26. Two Marines were killed Nov. 5, and two U.S. civilian trainers were shot in July. Three British soldiers were killed in July by an Afghan suspect, the report said.
